Integration of IMAP by Connect and Flipkart

After the launch of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, Flipkart and Snapdeal were two major players in the e-commerce market in India but with the launch of Amazon.com Inc., it was no longer a two-horse race. This is because Amazon.com Inc. has provided global e-commerce companies to enter the Indian market and hence, it has become a three-horse race.

As per reports of research analysts, Flipkart is still the largest e-commerce player in India with an estimated share of 35% of the market. Though both Amazon and Snapdeal are growing fast, they are still far behind Flipkart.

But that doesn’t mean that Flipkart is invincible. It faces tough competition from its competitors like Amazon and Snapdeal who have been expanding their operations aggressively. This is why Flipkart has announced its partnership with eBay and PayPal to take on its competitors.

eBay, an online marketplace, enables buyers and sellers to trade directly on the site. It had acquired Flipkart’s competitor Myntra in May 2014 for $330 million. The acquisition has helped eBay gain access to India’s booming online retail market.

PayPal is a leading online payment service provider. It provides integrated services for online payments and financing and money transfers through mobile devices, computers, and retailers. It acts as an electronic alternative to traditional paper-based methods like checks or cash.

The partnership between eBay and PayPal will allow buyers to pay for products using PayPal balance or credit cards while sellers will be able to sell their products using eBay’s Payflow system, which also supports payments through PayPal.

eBay will also provide Flipkart with customer service assistance, which would be valuable for Flipkart since it does not yet have a separate call center for its service support.

eBay expects this partnership between Flipkart and eBay to help expand their customer base and increase sales growth. Flipkart, on the other hand, expects this cplaboration to help them reach more customers and develop more robust supply chains.

Integration of IMAP by Connect and Flipkart:

This partnership will result in deeper integration between eBay and Flipkart and allow customers of either company to buy products from the other through their respective sites. This integration will allow buyers to view items available on Flipkart’s website using eBay’s search option and will also allow sellers to list their products on eBay using the company’s inventory management software known as IMAP by Connect.

It will also give customers a seamless experience while browsing through the two websites as they can use their eBay credentials to log into Flipkart’s website or use their PayPal accounts to log into eBay’s website.

Both parties can process payments using their own payment systems without having to go through intermediaries like banks or credit card companies. This will save both time and money for both buyers and sellers who will not need to pay fees for processing payments through these intermediaries anymore. Moreover, when customers buy products from the other party’s website, it will save them from having to open another account with another payment provider like a bank or credit card company. This will make it easier for them to purchase products from different companies on one platform instead of opening accounts with several different payment providers.

Benefits of Integration of IMAP by Connect and Flipkart:

  • It allows both companies to lower transaction costs. Since both entrepreneurs do not need to pay intermediaries like banks or credit card companies to process payments anymore, they can cut down the cost of transactions significantly by passing the savings on to their customers. They can do this by offering lower prices or rebates on purchases made using PayPal or credit cards instead of bank account transactions or cash payments. Thus, this partnership will enable both customers and sellers on either platform to benefit from lower transaction costs while buying or selling products on either platform.
  • It provides the companies with a larger customer base. In order to attract new customers and retain customers who have already purchased their products, both companies need to work hard towards providing great services to their customers. However, if they work together as partners, they can leverage each other’s existing customer base for greater success instead of trying to build two entirely new customer bases all by themselves. By integrating their platforms, they can avoid duplicating efforts in customer acquisition and focus more on providing a better user experience instead. This partnership may also lead to more referrals from existing customers of either company because customers who buy products from the other company may want to refer them to their friends. In addition, customers who shop at either company may want to shop at both platforms because they offer different products and brands so that their shopping needs can be fulfilled completely under one platform. Thus, this partnership will help give both partners stronger customer bases that they can use to expand their businesses further in India.
