Microsoft Dynamics CRM is a customer relationship management system. In the Microsoft Dynamics CRM environment, there are entities called "Contacts", "Opportunities", "Accounts", and many others. The Contacts entity is where users can store all of their customers' contact information. The Contact entity contains multiple fields such as first name, last name, phone number, email address, etc. The Accounts entity is where the users can store all of their accounts' contact information. This includes the ability to map accounts to contacts and organize them by fpders. The Opportunities entity is where users can store all of their opportunities' contact information. This includes the ability to map opportunities to contacts and organize them by fpders. There is also a calendar that shows all appointments, meetings, and events with multiple views, such as day, week, month, agenda, and custom views. There is also a tasks entity where users can store their tasks and view them in a list view or a calendar view. There is also a leads entity where leads can be stored and managed like they were prospects until they become qualified as opportunities. And there is also an activity entity where users can view all activities related to an opportunity and organize them by fpders.
The integration between Harvest and Microsoft Dynamics CRM is accomplished by using Harvest's Time Tracker module and Microsoft Dynamics CRM's Activity entity.
Harvest's Time Tracker module allows the user to assign also tasks to projects and clients and track time spent on those tasks. The integration between Harvest and Microsoft Dynamics CRM is done through the creation of a custom workflow that will be triggered when changes are made to activities in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. The custom workflow will be used to create new activities based on the data entered in Harvest's Time Tracker module for each logged task. There are two types of tasks that can be created by this custom workflow. Task activities and Opportunity activities. A task activity will be created if the user logs time for an existing task in Harvest's Time Tracker module. An opportunity activity will be created if the user logs time for an existing opportunity in Harvest's Time Tracker module or if no existing task or opportunity exists for that particular logged activity. A task activity will have all its fields populated with the values entered in Harvest's Time Tracker module while an opportunity activity will have only its fields populated with the values entered in Harvest's Time Tracker module except for its Account field which will be filled with the account associated with the logged activity in Harvest's Time Tracker module.
The integration between Harvest and Microsoft Dynamics CRM benefits both systems because it makes managing projects, clients, tasks, etc. easier for end users since they can use one program to manage all their business needs instead of using several different programs that are not connected to each other. It also allows end users to use one program for their time tracking needs instead of using another program to track their time. Another benefit is that it allows companies who use both Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Harvest to share their data between both systems easily without having to ask their developers to create custom interfaces between both systems or having to manually transfer data between both systems. It also allows users who do not manage projects using Microsoft Dynamics CRM but manage them using Harvest to still benefit from the integration between both systems.
