Google Tasks is a simple, free web-based top that allows users to manage tasks and cplaboratively work with cpleagues and clients (“Google Tasks”. In addition, the app allows users to create to-do lists and task checklists. Google Tasks can be accessed on a mobile device, computer or Android tablet. The app also syncs with Gmail and Google Calendar.
Filter By Connect is a productivity top that offers users the ability to filter emails through different labels in Gmail (“Google’s Filter By Connect Productivity Top”. Users can use Filter By Connect to sort through emails that are most important. Gmail users can create filters for emails from specific contacts or even specific email addresses. In addition, Google users can tag emails and even search for emails with certain keywords.
Google Tasks and Filter By Connect can be integrated to simplify organization of emails and messages. Users can integrate these two apps by using Google’s “Connected Applications” tab in Gmail. To connect these two apps, users first need to visit Gmail on a computer. Once users are in the inbox of Gmail they will need to click the “Connected Applications” tab located at the top right hand corner of the screen. Once this tab is clicked, users will see a list of different applications that can be integrated with Gmail, including Google Drive, Google Calendar and Google+. Users will then need to choose either ‘Google Tasks’ or ‘FilterByConnect’ depending on which app they want to integrate with Gmail. After selecting the app in question, a prompt will appear on the screen asking you to authorize the connection. Click ‘Allow’ and you are now connected to these applications.
Once these apps have been connected, users can create a filter for specific keywords in their email using the Gmail Filters tab in Gmail (Figure 1. This feature will allow users to sort through their email without having to filter through every message individually.

After clicking the “Create new filter” button on the screen, users will be able to choose whether they want to filter through an entire label or just emails from specific contacts on their email account (Figure 2. In this case, I selected “create filter for specific contact” so I could filter through emails from my boss at work. When users select this option, they need to enter an email address into the new filter box on the screen (Figure 3. Once this has been entered, users will see a list of all of their contacts on their account as well as any filters that have already been created (Figure 4. Users can then filter their inbox by selecting all of the contacts that they want to look through by clicking “add another filter” (Figure 5. Once this has been done, users can then click “create filter” at the bottom of the screen (Figure 6. Users should make sure that all of their filters are in place before leaving this page (Figure 7.

From here, users can go back into the Gmail inbox and use the “filter by connect” tab located next to the “search” tab at the top right hand corner of the screen (Figure 8. Users will then see an inbox full of all of their filtered messages from their selected contacts (Figure 9. Users can then interact with this inbox as if it were an actual email account. To view all messages from one particular contact, users simply need to click on that contact’s name within this menu (Figure 10. In this example, I clicked on my boss’s name and was then directed into his filtered inbox. From here I can view all of his messages and reply to them as if it were a normal inbox. Users can also remove any filters that they created at any time by clicking on the trashcan icon in the top right hand corner of the screen and selecting ‘delete selected filters’ (Figure 11. Additionally, I was able to go back into my own inbox and perform the same steps for filtering my own emails in order to get rid of any irrelevant messages from coworkers. It would be beneficial for me to use this application since I am constantly receiving many emails from my coworkers about meetings and other office related items which are not relevant to me. This app would help me get rid of those messages that are not relevant to me so I can focus on more important tasks or conversations on my inbox.
