In this article, I will be discussing two applications for the Android platform. Google Contacts and SendFox. I will discuss what each application does, how they can be integrated, and the benefits of such integration.
What is Google Contacts?
Google Contacts is a free app that allows users to keep track of up to three email addresses and five phone numbers for people they may want to contact. The app syncs with Gmail, allowing users to search their contacts using Gmail's search bar. It is also possible to sync the app with a Facebook account, although it is not mandatory.According to Google, the app has been downloaded 50 million times since its release in 2007. There are currently 2 million active users.Google Contacts was released at the same time Gmail was launched. The reason behind developing such a product was to promote the new Gmail service by allowing users to sync all their contacts from their Outlook and Hotmail accounts into their Gmail account. The app would then allow them to call or email anyone on their contact list.The main problem with Google Contacts is that it is unable to integrate contacts from Facebook and Yahoo. This is because both social networks have designed their own apps that allow users to keep track of their contacts.Facebook has an app called FaceBook Messenger, which allows users to keep track of all their Facebook friends and also send messages to them. Yahoo! has its own app called Yahoo! Messenger, which serves the same purpose as FaceBook Messenger. However, there is no way to connect both apps with Google Contacts.This means that if you have a lot of friends on FaceBook and Yahoo! it is almost impossible to update your Facebook or Yahoo! contact list using Google Contacts. In addition, once you add someone as a friend on Facebook or Yahoo! you cannot delete them from your list of contacts in Google Contacts.
