Gmail is a free, advertising-supported email service provided by Google. Gmail’s user interface initially differed from other webmail systems with its focus on search and conversation threading of emails, grouping multiple messages between two or more people onto a single page. In this sense, it differs from traditional webmail systems which have historically organized messages into fpders. According to the company, Gmail has one billion active users worldwide in April 2014.
Cisco® WebEx is a web conferencing service offered by Cisco Systems™. It was known as WebEx until July 2012, when Cisco Systems acquired the WebEx brand name from WebEx LLC for $135 million in cash. The service allows cplaborative real-time communication over the Internet, primarily for business meetings via video teleconferencing, online chat, and file sharing. The platform also supports social cplaboration through user-created groups, allowing for sharing documents and files with specific individuals or an entire group.
Integration of Gmail and Cisco® Webex Meetings use would allow both services to work together with each other. Users are able to send an email message to a meeting room with their participants in the room able to join that email conversation through the Webex website. This will allow users to start with an email conversation but then continue that conversation in a more direct manner without having to leave the Webex Meeting room, which helps keep the conversation focused on the meeting topic.
Benefits of Integration of Gmail and Cisco® Webex Meetings use would be that users are able to access more of their Gmails functionality while they are in a meeting rather than having to go back to their desktop. This integration will give users the ability to view all of their Gmails fpders inside the conference room application, which makes it easier for them to find the emails they need while in the meeting. Since they are already in the conference room application they do not have to go back to their desktop to access these fpders. This integration will also enable users to open up all attachments directly in the conference room application, which makes it easier for them to view the attachments while in the meeting rather than having to go back to their desktop or email client to view them. They will be able to do this without having to download the attachment first. This integration will help improve productivity since users will not have to leave their meeting rooms to access attachments on emails. The integration will also allow users to share documents or files with other participants directly within the conference room application. Users will no longer have to leave the conference room application to send or receive these documents or files. They can just open up a document or a file in a session, and then share that document or file with other participants in that session. Users will also have the ability to edit a document or a file directly in a session since these objects will be integrated with the conference room application. This saves users time since they will not have to leave a session in order to edit a document or a file. The documents or files will be readily available so users can quickly edit them within a session without having to go back and forth between applications, which improves productivity.
