Integration of Getform and Shipwire

Getform and Shipwire are software companies that have joined forces. Getform is an online shipping company based out of São Paulo, Brazil while Shipwire is an American company headquartered in Redwood City. This paper will discuss what Getform and Shipwire are and the benefits of their integration.

Getform is a software company that specializes in “online shipment services”. It was founded in 2000 by two students who were pursuing their master's degrees at the Federal University of Pernambuco in Recife, Brazil. Their goal was to create an online shipping service that would allow customers to pick their own carrier. A major selling point of Getform is its ability for customers to save money on their shipments with the carrier of their choice. This is possible because Getform gives the customer the opportunity to choose their own carrier and to negotiate the best deal for themselves. It also has a feature called “courier booster” which allows customers to contact multiple carriers at once, thus saving them time. Other features include tracking numbers and automated invoices.

Shipwire is a software company that specializes in “fulfillment” services. They offer services like warehousing, inventory management, shipping etc. They were founded in 2005 by three former Google employees and launched their services in 2012. Their goal was to make fulfillment services accessible to a wide variety of businesses and they have done so by creating a software platform that can be accessed through any online device like a tablet or smartphone. The platform offers various features like track-and-trace, order management, and more. Asides from offering their services through a software platform, Shipwire also offers fulfillment services for other business through third-party online retailers like Amazon and eBay. Shipwire is considered a “fulfillment as a service” company because it provides a way for small businesses to manage various aspects of warehousing and fulfillment without having to manage an in-house warehouse.

Getform has joined forces with Shipwire in March 2015 in an effort to increase the number of customers it serves. The partnership will allow Getform to offer services like warehousing and inventory management to its existing customers and reduce costs for Getform in the process. The partnership was made possible through the $40 million equity investment that Shipwire received from Intel Capital, Insight Venture Partners, Accel Partners, Sequoia Capital, and Tenaya Capital last July 2014.

The integration of Getform and Shipwire will allow both companies to grow and expand their market share in their respective fields. The integration will make product distribution easier for businesses which will lead to increased sales and revenue for both companies.
