Integration of Ecwid and MongoDB Realm

  • Ecwid?
  • Ecwid is a cloud-based ecommerce platform that helps users create and manage an online store. It has an extensive feature set covering everything from payments to shipping to inventory management. Every ecommerce operation can be carried out with ease. Ecwid offers the most advanced order processing methods, such as PayPal Express Checkout, Google Checkout, and merchant credit cards. You can analyze your business’s performance easily with reports and graphs available in Ecwid dashboard.

  • MongoDB Realm?
  • MongoDB realm is a powerful NoSQL database built on top of MongoDB. It provides a full suite of features for managing your data, including a robust query language, secondary indexes, and powerful aggregation framework. You can use it for web, mobile, and IoT applications to build fast, reliable apps that work at scale. In addition, you can connect to your existing data sources and leverage them to tackle complex analytics challenges.

  • Integration of Ecwid and MongoDB Realm
  • Integrating MongoDB realm and Ecwid is a breeze. You should go through the fplowing steps to setup a new EC2 instance with a MongoDB realm cluster running on it:

    • Install a Mongodb EC2 instance using the AWS Marketplace. This will create a single node cluster on us-east-1 region.
    • Create 2 instances of MongoDB realm running on auto-sharding mode on us-east-1 region. The first replica should be running on an EC2 instance created in Step 1, while the second should run on another one created in Step 1.
    • Connect the two MongoDB instances to an existing instance of MongoDB by setting up a replica set with the name “ecwid-mongo”. Set both instances up as members of this replica set using the same configuration file server.conf. You can download this file here.
    • Now you need to install the realm driver on the EC2 instance with MongoDB instances running on it. To do so, SSH into your EC2 instance and type the fplowing command:

    pip install mongodb-realm

    • To test your installation, run the fplowing code which will return all customers in your MongoDB realm cluster:

from realm import MappedClass class Customer(MappedClass). name = StringField(. email = StringField(. phone = StringField(. city = StringField(. country = StringField(. def all(). c = Customer(. for i in range(2). try. c = Customer(cplection="ecwid-mongo", id=i. print(c. except (KeyError, RealmError). print("Customer not found". ecwid_client = Realm(.connect("hostname", port=27017, "username", "password", "ecwid-mongo". try. ecwid_client.realm.execute("all();". print(ecwid_client. except (RealmError, AuthenticationError). print("Error connecting to host". except Exception as e. print(e. else. print("Successfully connected to host". if __name__ == "__main__". all()

    • Now you are ready to use Realm python library to connect to your database! You can read more about the Python API of Realm here. To learn more about how to use Realm with MongoDB, check out this link.
