Mautic is a marketing automation platform that connects to all major email marketing providers (MailChimp, GetResponse, AWeber, MadMimi, Hubspot, Constant Contact, Emma, Marketo, Infusionsoft. The mission of the Mautic project is to create an affordable open source marketing automation software used by non-profits and businesses to nurture leads through the sales funnel to increase donations. Mautic integrates into WordPress, allowing users to have all their content, events, forms, etc. in one place.
Mautic can be integrated with many different applications including Salesforce CRM, MailChimp, Facebook Ads Manager, Google Analytics, Google Adwords, Google AdSense, Twitter Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, W3C HTML validator, Google Tag Manager. When an integration is created between Mautic and another application, it is called an app. For example, when an integration is created between Mautic and WordPress, it is called the WordPress app. There are currently over 50 apps that are part of Mautic’s Software as a Service (SaaS. offering. Examples of apps are WordPress, Salesforce CRM, MailChimp, Facebook Ads Manager, Google Analytics, Google Adwords, Google AdSense, Twitter Ads and Facebook Ads Manager.
One of the apps that Mautic supports is Dropbox. If you connect Dropbox with Mautic then Mautic will automatically monitor the activity within your Dropbox account. This means that when someone adds a document to a fpder within your account or uploads a new file then this activity will be captured and added to your Mautic database. This integration allows you to see how many documents and files exist in your Dropbox account and which fpders they are in. By adding this information to your database you can easily identify who has access to which files and which files they can access. This can be an important piece of information during compliance audits. Remember that under GDPR you must be able to prove that you have deleted any personal data that you no longer need. If you have a list of all the people who have accessed a particular file then it is easier to prove if you deleted the data or not! With 50% of Dropbox users not backing up their data in any other way than putting it in their Dropbox account and many others storing their data in multiple places in their Dropbox account it is important to know exactly what information you may be required to delete in the event of a breach. If you have made a backup of the data in an archive file then there is less at stake but if you have only stored data in the cloud then this takes on a much greater significance.
Once an app has been connected with Mautic then it is very simple to get information from that app into Mautic’s database. In the case of Dropbox you simply select the fpder(s. where your data is stored and either add existing data to your database or allow Mautic to start monitoring your fpder(s. for new activity. This means that you will get information about all of the files in those fpders and any of the files added or modified after this point will also be added to your database. While there is some extra work invpved in adding existing data to your database if this has not been done previously then it is still very simple process using Mautic’s “Import from Dropbox” feature. This feature allows you to select a fpder from within your Dropbox account and add all of the data stored in that fpder directly into your database without needing to copy and paste each individual file manually.
The basic benefit of connecting Dropbox with Mautic is that it allows you to get basic information about all of the files stored in your Dropbox account into Mautic’s database. This may not seem like much but once data has been captured in this way it becomes very easy to use this information in conjunction with other information within your database for analysis purposes. The same principle applies when you connect another app with Mautic however in this case there are many more options available to you relating to how effectively you can use this information for reporting purposes. For example if you connect Salesforce CRM with Mautic then you can view basic information about all of your contacts within Salesforce CRM directly within Mautic’s database (i.e., Name, Job Title, Company name. If you repeat this process for every application that you use then any time you want to send an email or create a public facing report then you can simply select all of your records within Mautic’s database related to individuals belonging to a particular job title at a particular company rather than trying to find this information in all of the different applications that you use. The same principle applies if you connect MailChimp with Mautic but instead of just viewing contact details within Mautic’s database you can view statistics related to all campaigns run via MailChimp within your database (i.e., opens/clicks/bounces. If you repeat this process for every application that you use then any time you want to send an email or create a public facing report then you can simply select all of your records within Mautic’s database related to campaigns run by individuals belonging to a particular job title at a particular company rather than trying to find this information in all of the different applications that you use. The key take away here is that once an app has been connected with Mautic then there are additional options available that make it easier for users who are not technical experts to gain insight into marketing metrics without needing to do too much work themselves!
