Downtime Alert is an application that monitors the status of a website and notifies you if it goes down. It is a great top for online businesses, which need their websites up and running 24/7. Downtime Alert is simple to use and does what it promises. Once you’ve installed the app, you can forget about your website crashing and losing potential sales.
Another great thing about Downtime Alert is its integration with FuseDesk. Downtime Alert allows you to set triggers, depending on the status of your website. If your site goes down, Downtime Alert sends an email to the appropriate people. If your site resumes service, Downtime Alert notifies you as well. You can setup these trigger actions via FuseDesk.
FuseDesk is a cloud-based monitoring spution that allows you to monitor your systems for downtime, performance, and availability. If anything goes wrong, FuseDesk will send you an alert via email or SMS message. Apart from that, you can track your website stats, server logs, security devices, and more. All of this information is accessible via FuseDesk’s web interface.
Now that we know what Downtime Alert and FuseDesk are, let’s take a look at how they can be integrated. You can link your Downtime Alert account with FuseDesk via the API key found in the “Integrations” tab of your Downtime Alert dashboard. Once that’s done, you can set up triggers via FuseDesk. Let’s go through the different types of triggers available in FuseDesk:
When a Web page returns 404 Not Found or 500 Internal Server Error, FuseDesk sends an email to the appropriate person(s. letting them know about the issue. When a Web page returns 200 OK but it has changed, FuseDesk sends an email to the appropriate person(s. letting them know about the issue. When a Web page returns 200 OK but it has remained unchanged for over 3 days, FuseDesk sends an email to the appropriate person(s. letting them know about the issue. When there’s a new device added to FuseDesk, FuseDesk sends an email to the appropriate person(s. letting them know about the issue.
The triggers above are very useful if your website contains static content or is updated periodically. However, if you do any dynamic content handling (e.g., user activity), you might want to use triggers #1 and #2 instead:
When there’s less than 1 request per second to /fusetopkit/, FuseDesk sends an email to the appropriate person(s. letting them know about the issue. When there’s less than 1 request per second to /fusetopkit/fusedemo/, FuseDesk sends an email to the appropriate person(s. letting them know about the issue.
The triggers above are better suited for websites that require a higher level of activity or a specific type of activity (e.g., a single user accessing a specific page. Of course, you can use all of these triggers in conjunction with each other. For example, when a device is added to FuseDesk, you could have it trigger both the “Web page returns 200 OK but it has changed” and one of the two “Web page requests less than 1 request per second” triggers.
