You can create an outline in the fplowing ways:
Click the Start button on the ribbon.

To add text to your outline, select text that you want to turn into an outline topic, right-click the selection, and then click Quick Outline. The text becomes an outline topic. The new outline topic has a default outline level of 1. To increase the level of the outline topic, right-click it again, and then click Increase Level. To decrease the level of an outline topic, right-click it again, and then click Decrease Level. Select Outline Levels on the Outlining tab to see all levels of your outline topics. You can also increase or decrease levels by pressing TAB or SHIFT+TAB when you have selected an outline topic. On the Home tab, in the Outlining group, click Outline Levels, and then click Increase Level or Decrease Level. If you want your outline to be exactly like another one that you have created earlier, right-click it in Outline View or in your document, and then click Copy To . The outline is copied to your document at the exact location where you paste it in your document. From the Outlining tab, in the Editing group, click Quick Outline or Quick Outline Enable . When Quick Outline is enabled (the default setting), you can quickly convert any selected text into an outline topic by pressing CTRL+SPACEBAR when you have selected text in your document. To enable this feature, select Auto Quick Outline in the Editing group on the Outlining tab.
