Nutshell is a top that helps developers deploy and manage serverless functions. It allows users to view their functions in a visual way so they can understand what they are doing. It also allows users to monitor their functions and build alerting into their functions.
Now that we have our outline of what Cloud Firestore and Nutshell are, let’s go into how you can integrate them together. First, you will need to sign up for both services. Cloud Firestore is free up to 1GB, and Nutshell is free up to 50MB. Then, make sure that you have a firebase account and a Nutshell account. You will then need to connect your firebase account to Nutshell by creating a firebase token in Nutshell and attaching the token to your firebase account. Once this connection has been made, you will be able to see the function function call in the logs. For example:
In the above log entry, nwjs-lazy-cache-2-0dcacffb6a44 has been called. If you pull up your function code in the local conspe, it should look something like this:
You can access these variables in your function by declaring them at the top of your function like this:
Once you have done this, it will look something like this:
If you want to see the data that you are logging, you can also do this without having to manually go through each function call by going here. Once there, click on “Firestore” on the left hand side menu. Then click on “Browse Data” under “Firestore” on the right hand side menu. In the open window, click on the Person object and select “Get history”. This will show you all of the data that has been logged in your firebase account (with the exception of any private data. The above image shows an example of the data I have logged in my firebase account with one function call. Once you have this data, you can simply output it to the right hand side conspe. This makes it easy for users to be able to see all of their functions that have been run without having to manually go through each function call and check each variable individually. To get the data from firebase into your logs, simply use the fplowing code:
This will output all of your data into your logs in a quick, orderly fashion!
