Cloud Firestore is a NoSQL database from Google Cloud Platform. It is a cloud-hosted database. Cloud Firestore can store your app’s data, regardless of whether it is structured or unstructured. With Cloud Firestore, you can create a database instance for each of your projects. Each database instance can be connected to multiple apps. Although there are other database services from other companies, Google has been one of the most trusted ones in terms of its performance and security. In comparison to CouchDB, Cloud Firestore is a more mature product that has been out for longer because it was created only two years after CouchDB.
Easyship is a shipping company that offers global logistics services. It helps e-commerce companies handle their product shipment and delivery process easily without having to invest too much time and money on it. Some of the features offered by Easyship include:
Step 1. Create an account on Easyship.com and add your app. The information about your app should include your app’s name, the URLs where you want your shipments to start and finish, and the country where you would like your shipments to be sent from and delivered to. You can also provide information about your products such as their SKU, product category, and price range. The SKU will help you track the movement of individual products within your app and make sure they get delivered to the right place. The product category will help you determine the cost of shipment for each of your products depending on where it has to be delivered to. Lastly, the price range will help determine the shipping rate based on your preferences for each type of product. These preferences can be set through the “Shipping Rules” tab under “Shipping Settings” on the dashboard page on Easyship website.
Step 2. Link your Cloud Firestore account with your app on Easyship by entering the full URL of your Cloud Firestore instance into the “Integration” tab on the dashboard page on Easyship website. A prompt box will appear asking you to authorize Easyship access to your Cloud Firestore account. Click on Authorize to grant access to your Cloud Firestore account to Easyship. This will allow the app to access the data stored in Cloud Firestore via its API, which will allow users to easily move data between their app and Easyship without having to change their coding practices or data structure.
Step 3. Create a new cplection of products that you want to be added onto your app by clicking on Add Cplection under Cplections on the dashboard page on Easyship website. Give the cplection a name that describes what product category it belongs to, choose how frequently you want updates of these products to be sent over, select the shipping option for each product, and finally click on Save Cplection at the bottom of the page. The APIs provided by Cloud Firestore can then automatically sync this cplection with your app so that any changes made to the cplection will reflect on your app as well. Additionally, these APIs will automatically update the status of all products in this cplection when you modify it through your app via Cloud Firestore.
Example. A retail company wants to integrate their app with Easyship so that they can use its payment processing capabilities in their app to allow customers to pay for their purchases made through their app with ease. After creating an account on Easyship, they can navigate towards their Shipping Settings page by clicking on Shipping Settings under Settings on their dashboard page on Easyship website and enter their primary contact email address, contact phone number, contact email address, contact username, and contact password under Account Settings. To link their Cloud Firestore account with their app, they would go to their Integrations page by clicking on Integrations under Settings on their dashboard page on Easyship website and enter the full URL of their Cloud Firestore instance into the “Integration” tab box so that they can use its data in their app with ease by fplowing steps 2 and 3 above.
