Calendly is a web based scheduling software that allows users to create a custom URL for their calendar or event. The user can specify how many days in advance the appointment can be scheduled. This is especially useful for businesses, Agencies, and Groups. It also provides a calendar of all the users available times to choose from. Calendly is a free service, but if you want to connect it to your calendar you will need to pay $9 a month. Calendly was developed by Gagan Biyani, Boomerang co-founder Jonathan Swanson, and Steve Young. Calendly was founded in 2012 and is now headquartered in Los Angeles, California.
MailChimp is an email marketing software that allows users to create and send emails to anyone. It was founded in 2001 and has over 7 million users. They started out with two co-founders Ben Chestnut and Dan Kurzius. In 2013 MailChimp released a feature called Mandrill that would allow customers to send mass emails at a much cheaper rate than what MailChimp offered. MailChimp is now headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.
One of the main reasons Calendly and MailChimp have not been integrated yet is because they are not as close in proximity as other companies. Calendly is located in Los Angeles while MailChimp is located in Atlanta. This can be seen by looking at the distance on Google Maps between the two headquarters (Los Angeles and Atlanta. When comparing this to some of the companies that were already integrated into Calendly there is a big difference. For example, Apple has an office in Cupertino, CA which is only 40 miles away from the headquarters of Atlassian (which is located in San Francisco. Another reason why Calendly and MailChimp have not been integrated is because they are not as similar as other companies. If these two services were to be integrated then both companies would lose a lot of their own business; Calendly users would most likely start using MailChimp for their mailing services and vice versa. This article talks about how MailChimp should buy Calendly, but this could easily go the other way around. The different ways that these two companies could integrate together are explained later in this paper.
B1. Business Relationship
Calendly and MailChimp could partner together and work on providing each other with what they do best and integrating those services together. MailChimp has email marketing software that could work with Calendly's scheduling software. This would mean that when someone books an appointment with someone through Calendly they would automatically be added to the mailing list of the user who booked it. This would also mean that when someone gets booked through Calendly they would get sent an email with information about their appointment or event. This solution would be a lot easier for both companies because neither company would lose their business to the other company; they would still be able to make money off of their services even though they would now be working together. One of the problems with this solution is that no one knows if Calendly and MailChimp are going to work together because there has been no communication between the two companies yet, meaning that this solution may never happen unless Calendly and MailChimp decide to release an official statement about working together or people find out that they are working together (which is unlikely because they probably don't want people knowing that they are working together.
B2. Alternative Business Relationship
Another way that these two companies can work together is by having one company buy the other company. MailChimp has a lot more money than Calendly does so if they wanted to buy Calendly then they could easily do that without any problems at all. This would be beneficial for MailChimp because they could use Calendly's software to send out mass mailings and increase their customer base even more. This would also be beneficial for Calendly because it would give them more funds than what they currently have so they can further develop their existing software and add new features to it, making it better for its users. The main problem with this solution is that MailChimp already has a lot of customers and clients who are depending on them for sending out mailings and if they bought another company then it might affect their business in a negative way. This solution might not go through but if it does happen then it will most likely happen within the next few years because both companies are still doing fairly well right now so there wouldn't be any need for either company to buy the other company anytime soon (unless something goes wrong within one of the companies.
C1. Marketing Strategy
This solution would be very beneficial for both companies because it would allow them both to make more money without losing any of their customers to the other company. The biggest benefit for this solution would be the fact that it wouldn't cost either company much money at all because if they really wanted to integrate then all they would have to do is update their software so that their websites and applications can work together. This solution may seem like an obvious win-win situation but the problem with this solution is that there hasn't been any communication at all between these two companies and that makes it almost impossible that we will ever see them working together. There isn't anything known about whether or not Calendly and MailChimp have talked or worked on creating this integration so this solution seems unlikely at this point but it still has a small chance of happening so this solution should not be ruled out just yet.
