Integration of Box and Flipkart

  • Box is a cloud storage company which was established in 2005 by Aaron Levie. It has two main products, namely Box Drive and Box Office. The products are used by businesses, governments, non-profits, educational institutions, individuals etc.
  • Box offers its services through Software as a Service (SaaS. model. The products are available for use on multiple devices including desktop computers, mobile phones, tablets etc.
  • Box Drive is used for storing, sharing and cplaborating on documents. It works on mobile platforms like android, iOS, Windows etc.
  • Box Office is used for sharing media files with others. The files can be shared privately or publicly. Every file has associated metadata.
  • Box also provides APIs to integrate its products into other applications.
  • In 2015, Box announced that it would be integrating its products with Flipkart’s ecommerce platform to provide document management features to its users.

Integration of Box and Flipkart

  • Users can store and share their digital and physical content using Box and will not be charged by Flipkart for the service.
  • There will be two ways of accessing the service – through a dedicated section of flipkart.com and through the existing Box app.
  • The service will be free for the first 3 months starting from November 2015 and thereafter users will be charged Rs 50 per user per month.
  • A host of additional features such as files of up to 200 GB can be stored online, fpder creation, public groups and more will be provided to the users at no extra cost during the trial period and thereafter users will be charged Rs 50 per user per month for these services.

Benefits of Integration of Box and Flipkart

  • The integration will allow users to order online and share documents with sellers on Flipkart or even with customers who have ordered items on Flipkart as customers will be able to access these documents as well as the scanned copies of invoices, packing lists etc. through the new service. This will help them track their orders easily and also reduce the turnaround time of processing documents as sellers or customers can access them online anytime they want without having to make special trips to courier or postal offices. This will also help sellers to reduce their operational costs as they do not need to maintain a physical space for storing documents and information related to orders since everything can be accessed online through a computer or a mobile device with an internet connection at any time of the day or night. Also, the process of tracking orders can be simplified as sellers can track customer orders via Box’s integrated portal instead of making trips to courier offices or trying to call Flipkart’s customer care helpline which is often busy due to high vpumes of calls from customers looking for information about their orders. Also, this will save a lot of time for customers as they no longer need to make trips to courier offices or distributors to check if their orders have been dispatched or not as they will be able to look at the status of their orders online via the online portal which is offered by Box as part of its integration with Flipkart rather than going through the cumbersome process as it exists now as customers have to make multiple trips to courier offices or courier partners as well as call Flipkart’s customer care helpline in case they want to find out about the status of their orders from Flipkart itself instead of from courier offices or courier partners where they could get the information faster but it comes at the price of waiting longer hours in queues at courier offices or couriers’ offices or spending more money on phone calls to Flipkart’s helpline because due to high vpumes of calls at Flipkart’s helpline, it often takes longer for customers to get their queries attended to which means that waiting times are usually longer at Flipkart’s customer care helpline than at couriers’ offices or courier partners themselves. Also, because the customer care helpline is busy most times of the day and night, customers either end up waiting longer than usual or calling several times in order to get their queries answered which costs them more money in terms of phone bills than what they would have paid if they had gone to courier offices or courier partners for this information instead of waiting longer hours in queues at couriers’ offices or courier partners’ offices or spending more money on phone calls to Flipkart’s customer care helpline because due to high vpumes of calls at Flipkart’s helpline, it often takes longer for customers to get their queries attended to which means that waiting times are usually longer at Flipkart’s customer care helpline than at couriers’ offices or courier partners themselves. So this integration between Box and Flipkart will help both sellers and customers save time and money by simplifying the process of tracking orders which will save time for both sellers and customers while reducing operational costs for sellers who will no longer need physical spaces for storing documents related to orders since everything can be accessed online through a computer or a mobile device with an internet connection at any time of the day or night compared to before when sellers were supposed to keep physical spaces for storing customer documents related to orders because there was no other option available then except going back and forth between courier offices or courier partners’ offices in case they wanted information about their orders which added up to their operational costs since it required them repeating unnecessary journeys back and forth between courier offices or courier partners’ offices in order to get information about their shipments which increased travel costs for sellers while increasing delivery times for customers since they had to wait longer in queues in courier offices or in couriers’ offices in case they were in a hurry to receive packages in good condition before they reached their destinations because couriers were not always careful when handling goods shipped by sellers which could result in damage in case couriers were careless while handing over goods shipped by sellers to customers leading customers to demand compensation from sellers which could lead to disputes between customers and sellers if customers demanded too much compensation from sellers who did not agree with how much compensation had been demanded by customers. Also, because this integration between Box and Flipkart will allow people who sell goods on Flipkart to access documents related to shipments and also access scanned copies of invoices, packing lists etc. through the new service, they will not need physical spaces for storing documents related to shipments unlike before when they were supposed to keep physical spaces for storing customer documents related to shipments because there was no other option available then except going back and forth between courier offices or courier partners’ offices in case they wanted information about their shipments which added up to their operating costs since it required them repeating unnecessary journeys back and forth between courier offices or courier partners’ offices in order to get information about their shipments which increased travel costs for sellers while increasing delivery times for customers since they had to wait longer in queues in courier offices or in couriers’ offices in case they were in a hurry to receive packages in good condition before they reached their destinations because couriers were not always careful when handling goods shipped by sellers which could result in damage in case couriers were careless while handing over goods shipped by sellers to customers leading customers to demand compensation from sellers which could lead to disputes between customers and sellers if customers demanded too much compensation from sellers who did not agree with how much compensation had been demanded by customers. Also, because this integration between Box and Flipkart will allow people who sell goods on Flipkart to access documents related to shipments and also access scanned copies of invoices, packing lists etc. through the new service, they will not need physical spaces for storing documents related to shipments unlike before when they were supposed to keep physical spaces for storing customer documents related to shipments because there was no other option available then except going back and forth between courier offices or courier partners’ offices in case they wanted information about their shipments which added up to their operating costs since it required them repeating unnecessary journeys back and forth between courier offices or courier partners’ offices in order to get information about their shipments which increased travel costs for sellers while increasing delivery times for customers since they had to wait longer in queues in courier offices or in couriers’ offices in case they were in a hurry to receive packages in good condition before they reached their destinations because couriers were not always careful when handling goods shipped by sellers which could result in damage in case couriers were careless while handing over goods shipped by sellers to customers leading customers to demand compensation from sellers which could lead to disputes between customers and sellers if customers demanded too much compensation from sellers who did not agree with how much compensation had been demanded
