Integration of Amazon EC2 and Agendor

Amazon EC2 is a cloud computing platform that has launched in 2006. It provides you with the possibility to rent virtual computers configured in the way you need. The most important thing about Amazon EC2 is that you can choose where your server is located. You can choose from any available data center within the United States or even around the world, depending on your needs. Also, you are able to choose the operating system, the programming language, and open source applications for your virtual machine.

The service is built based on web services APIs so it is easy to integrate with other applications. The API can be accessed using SOAP or REST. You can run scripts in your AWS account using Bash, Perl, or Python. EC2 also allows you to use many different storage options even if it is not provided by Amazon. You can store your data in S3, EBS, RDS, Redshift, CloudFront or Glacier. You can also pass data between these services without any problems.

Agendor is an enterprise planning software with open source license that is designed for startups and small businesses. It is simple enough for an entrepreneur to use but powerful enough for bigger companies to use it as well. It is built on top of PostgreSQL and PostGIS for enterprise-scale applications. Agendor requires you to have your data stored in a PostgreSQL database that is installed on your system with PostGIS extension enabled. Agendor has no configuration file and all settings are defined by editing its code.

Integration of Amazon EC2 and Agendor consists of several steps:

  • Creating a machine instance of Amazon EC2 with user-defined settings
  • Connecting to the instance via SSH with password free key authentication
  • Installing Agendor on the instance
  • Connecting Agendor with PostgreSQL database
  • Testing the connection
  • Doing some local testing of Agendor
  • Doing some tests on remote machine with Agendor installed using Amazon EC2
  • Launching the machine with Agendor application running on it using Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2.

It is very important to note that Agendor needs PostgreSQL database with PostGIS installed on the same machine as it is installed on. However, if you want to launch your applications without installing them locally, you can do this on Amazon Web Services (AWS. by using Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2. The same can be done on Azure or Microsoft Windows Azure. When the application is launched on EC2 it will be installed automatically on your computer if you are using Linux or Mac OS X or if you are using Windows then you need to install it manually. What’s more, if you are using Windows 8 then there is no need of installing Agendor manually since it will be pre-installed there. On the other hand, if you want to use Agendor on Ubuntu 12.10 or 13.04 then you will need to install PostgreSQL 9.1 or higher, PostGIS 2.0 or higher, and GDAL 1.8 or higher.

The process to integrate Amazon EC2 and Agendor may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
