In this paper I will be discussing the integration of Amazon CloudWatch and Basecamp 3. I will briefly discuss what each of these services are, and then explain why it is important to integrate them.
Amazon CloudWatch is a monitoring service provided by Amazon Web Services that enables you to collect and track metrics for AWS resources, such as Amazon EC2 instances, Elastic Load Balancers, etc. Amazon CloudWatch uses Amazon CloudTrail for logging. CloudTrail records API calls for your AWS account, including creation of your account, deletion of resources (like S3 buckets), creation of CloudWatch metrics, etc. This data is stored for your account in an Amazon S3 bucket. These logs can help answer questions like. "What happened?" or "When did it happen?" or "How did it happen?". You can set up alarms in the AWS Management Console so that you get an email or an SMS if certain metrics exceed a threshold that you set. You can add CloudWatch data to any metric in a graph on the dashboard of a project in Basecamp 3. You can also use a template to add CloudWatch data directly into a project. Once you have added data to a graph, you can explore it with the time slider in the graph. The time slider lets you filter data based on time range and granularity level. For example, you can choose to see all data from the last hour, the last day, or the last week. You can also choose to view data from one hour ago, one day ago, one week ago, etc.
There are many benefits to integrating these two services together. The first benefit is that you can monitor your projects in Basecamp 3 in real time to make sure they are running smoothly. The second benefit is that you can create graphs in the dashboard directly from your cloudwatch log files using the template feature. The third benefit is that you can set up alarms in the console or schedule reports to be delivered to you via email or SMS alerting you when your projects go down or if something goes wrong. The fourth benefit is that you can use project templates to build out projects quickly without having to spend too much time configuring them from scratch because all of the necessary settings will already be input for you. The fifth benefit is that you can have multiple people viewing and editing your project simultaneously without having to worry about conflicts occurring because everyone will be able to see everyone else's changes right away. The sixth benefit is that you can add notes on each change to keep track of who made what changes and when. The seventh benefit is that you can easily see how many hours someone is working per week and how long their sprints are lasting, which makes it easy for you to track how much work they are doing and tell them when they need to take some time off. The eighth benefit is that you have access to detailed information about every change that has been made related to your project. And finally, the ninth benefit is that you can connect with members of your team using comments and direct messages on each project page so that you can communicate with them quickly and efficiently while working on your projects.
In conclusion, Amazon CloudWatch and Basecamp 3 work very well together because they streamline your workflow and allow you to keep track of the progress being made on each project while it's being worked on.
