Appy Pie – Data: Women App Creation

App Builder Appy Pie, Aug 29: Key finding: According to a recent data pull done by Appy Pie, women Appy Pie users are creating more apps this year than ever before. From Q1-Q2 of 2017, 38% of the apps created on Appy Pie were created by women, whereas in Q1-Q2 of 2016 only 19% were created by women.

Methodology: Appy Pie looked at the number of apps created by women on the platform for Q1/Q2 in 2016 and compared that to number of apps created by women in Q1/Q2 in 2017. The app categories for this data pull included: professional services – real estate, accountants, etc.; health – doctors, wellness, fitness, etc.; food – fast-food, restaurants, caterers, etc.; travel/hospitality – airfare, train tickets, buses, hotels, ridesharing, etc.; retail – ecommerce/brick and mortar, etc.; and gaming

Results:
The company compared Q1-Q2 of2017 to Q1-Q2 of 2016, and found:

• 2016: How many apps were created in Q1/Q2 2016 by women:
• 49,400 out of 260,000 (19% of apps on Appy Pie were created by women)
• 2017: How many apps were created in Q1/Q2 2017 by women:
• 167,200 out of 440,000 (38% of apps on Appy Pie were created by women)

• 2016: How many apps were created by women – 3,800 out of 22,200
• 2017: How many apps were created by women – 18,250 out of 56,000
• Total percentage growth of : 380%

• Health
•  2016: How many apps were created by women – 17,500 out of 67,700
• 2017: How many apps were created by women – 42,100 out of 86,000
• Total percentage of growth: 140%

• Food
• 2016: How many apps were created by women – 8,200 out of 57,000
• 2017: How many apps were created by women – 33,280 out of 79,185
• Total percentage of growth: 305%

• 2017: How many apps were created by women – 38,600 out of 92,300
