A web ad is an online advertisement, typically in the form of a banner or rectangle, that appears on web pages. Ads can also be delivered via email or text message, or even on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Web ads are designed to catch your attention and lead you to click through to the advertiser’s site to learn more or buy a product or service. The advertiser pays the publisher for each click.

The size of an ad should be large enough to grab the attention of users, but small enough to keep the page loading speed fast. And for this, your web ads size and dimension should be in an optimized way, and for this, just follow Appy Pie’s recommended standard web ad size chart.

Most common and popular Web Ad formats

  • Text Ads:
  • These are the most common, most efficient, and most cost-effective. These are text ads that appear in search results and on the right side of the page. In-text ads, you are allowed up to 10 lines of text, but for image ads and video ads, you are allowed up to 25 lines of text. This is more than enough space to describe your business and get your message across. The most common text ad size is a 160×600 pixel display ad.

  • Image Ads:
  • Image ads are great because they draw the eye and make you want to click. These are great for the right side of the page, and they are also great for search results. In-text ads, you are allowed up to 10 lines of text, but for image ads and video ads, you are allowed up to 25 lines of text. This is more than enough space to describe your business and get your message across. The standard image size is 250 x 250 pixels.

  • Video Ads:
  • Video ads are growing in popularity. They use great stock footage and have a professional look and feel that makes you want to check them out. The standard ad size is 300×250, or 250×250, with an aspect ratio of 4:3.

  • Microbar Web Ad:
  • Microbar Web Ad is a web banner with a small bar code (barcode) that is created by the advertiser or by a third-party service provider. This bar code is a 1D code (linear code). The bar code contains encoded information about the advertiser and the product he/she is promoting. However, there are variations to this, but the standard size for a microbar web ad is 672 x 60.

  • Button 1 & Button 2 Web Ad:
  • These are ads that appear on Bing search results pages and on the Bing Ads network. These ads are served in response to specific user queries. The ads are shown on the top and bottom of the search results page and are labeled as “Button 1” or “Button 2”. The ad consists of a headline, a link, and a description line. The standard dimension for Button 1 is 120 x 90 pixels and Button 2 is 120 x 60 pixels respectively.

  • Large Rectangle Web Ad:
  • A large rectangle is a rectangular shape placed on the right side of the page. These ads are typically 300×250 pixels in size but can be up to 336×280.
