I: Introduction (at least three sentences)

A: The general mechanics of a programming language is like a dialect, and there are several languages that represent the different dialects.

* Programming languages include: HTML, CSS, CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery, PHP, Perl, C.

B: Programming languages offer an efficient method for computer programmers to communicate with one another and can be used to create more complex websites and applications.

II: Body (at least two paragraphs)

A: When downloading and parsing xml demo

1. Open your web browser and go to: https://www.w3schools.com/xml/default.asp

2. Scroll down and select: “Try it out: Download and parse XML data using Javascript”

3. Click “Run” button and then click “Run” again on the pop-up prompt.

4. Select either “Evaluate with JScript” or “Evaluate with VBScript” based on your preference.

5. Click “Evaluate” button and enter the URL of the xml file you want to download and parse into the prompt box that appears next.

6. Click “Evaluate” button in the prompt box you clicked in step 5, and an alert box will appear which displays the contents of the xml file you selected in step 5.

7. Now that you have successfully downloaded and parsed xml data in your browser, you will be able to convert the data from a text string to a proper data structure for processing programmatically by you or others. For additional practice download this zipped xml file from our site at http://www.sahrawebdesigns.com/downloads/internet_coding_languages/html_css_xml_javascript/xml_demo.zip and then follow the steps outlined above to download and parse the xml data using your web browser and your coding language of choice.

B: Programming languages offer an efficient method for computer programmers to communicate with one another and can be used to create more complex websites and applications. Part of what makes computers so powerful is their ability to accept simple commands from us humans and then translate those commands into meaningful action within memory storage devices such as hard drives, flash drives, microSD cards, Solid State Drives (SSDs), CDs, DVDs, etc. Each of these commands which we give our computers could be a simple statement such as: 7+5=12 or a complex statement such as: if today is Wednesday then start this spreadsheet program, open up a new document, save it as spreadsheet titled “Sales Report – July 22nd – July 29th 2017”, make cell A1 read “Date”, make cell A2 read “Product Line 1 Sales” , make cell A3 read “Product Line 2 Sales” , make cell A4 read “Product Line 3 Sales” , make cell A5 read “Total Sales for each Product Line” , make cell A6 read “Total Sales for all Product Lines” , set cell B1 to 15% of Cell A5, divide cell B1 by 100 which results in 0.15 rounded off to whole number .4546 rounded off to whole number .4546 , multiply cell A6 by cell B1 which results in total sales for each product line being multiplied by 15%, which results in total sales for each product line being multiplied by 0.15 divided by 100 which results in total sales for each product line being multiplied by 0.004546 rounded off to whole number .4546 rounded off to whole number .4546 , subtract cell B1 from cell A6 which results in total sales for each product line being subtracted by 15%. Finally subtract cell B1 from cell A6 which results in total sales for each product line being subtracted by 0%. This process is known as mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division (the four basic operations of arithmetic).
