Benefits of Integration of CalendarHero and StoryChief

Once you have created an outline, start with the opening sentence. This is the most difficult part of writing an article. It should grab the reader’s attention and make the reader want to continue reading. You can use a quote or an interesting fact to grab the reader’s attention. For example. “The mother of all calendars is the Gregorian calendar, which is used by most countries in the world today. The Gregorian calendar was adopted by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582” (Wikipedia. This sentence grabs the reader’s attention because it begins with the statement “the mother of all calendars…” This grabs the reader’s attention immediately because he/she wants to know what the mother of all calendars actually is. Furthermore, this example uses an interesting fact or quote to generate interest, whereas other examples might use a statistic for the same purpose. Once you have written the opening sentence, write any supporting sentences. These will be sentences that support your position. For example, if you were writing about how people are using their smartphones more than their computers. “Most people now own a smartphone and use it more than they use a computer to go online. A survey conducted by Pew Research Center found that 23% of American adults who own cell phones rely mostly on their cell phones to go online and 48% of cell phone owners have used their phone to access the internet at some point during the month before the survey was conducted (PewResearchCenter.” The sentence starts with a statistic (“Most people now own a smartphone and use it more than they use a computer to go online”. and then continues with a supporting sentence (“A survey conducted by Pew Research Center found that 23% of American adults who own cell phones rely mostly on their cell phones to go online”. The supporting sentences should be relevant, but not as long as a paragraph or two. The main idea of an article is to prove that your argument is correct. Any supporting sentences must be relevant to your topic and your thesis statement in order to support your argument.

Once you have written your opening sentence and supporting sentences, write your concluding sentences. These sentences need to connect back to your thesis statement, as they are your final impression on the article. They also need to summarize everything that you wrote in the previous body paragraphs. A good way to summarize all of your body paragraphs is to use lists. If you were writing about how people are using their smartphones more than their computers again. “Furthermore, many people are using their smartphones for social networking sites like Facebook or for games such as Angry Birds, whereas people tend to use their computers for things like email or word processing. Another reason that people are using their smartphones more than computers is because smartphones cost less than computers and require less maintenance.” These two sentences would summarize all of your body paragraphs above, even though they only include two sentences.

Now, you have written your entire article! I recommend that you read through your article twice before submitting it. If you are writing an article for your cplege application, I recommend that you have at least one other person read through the article after you have written it and before you submit it. You should be able to rewrite your article once you get feedback from someone else. Once you feel comfortable with your article, submit it!
