Integration of Zoho Writer and SMTP by Connect enables users to send mails from within Zoho Writer. It saves time of users who want to send mails from within an application they are using than opening up a separate application. Users can also post their emails directly on their blogs or websites without having to manually redirect the mail to the correct address. Besides, it adds security as users do not need to type their password into the SMTP account every time they want to send an email.
The integration works in two ways:
Since SMTP by Connect supports both POP3 and IMAP protocps, users can connect their existing email accounts with this service. For example, if a user has a Gmail account, he/she can connect it with the SMTP account and then send mails from within Zoho Writer. If there is no email account connected with this service, Zoho Writer will open a new account with the SMTP server for sending an email from within Zoho Writer. For example, a user opens a new Google Apps account and does not have any email account connected with it yet. Then he/she launches Zoho Writer and clicks on “Compose” button. This will open a new window where the user can type the name of the recipient and the subject of the email and then click on “Send” button to send the email. The email will be sent from this newly created account. In this case, since there is no email account connected with this service, all the emails from Zoho Writer will go into this newly created account. Once this user has an email account connected with this service, he/she can choose the SMTP account for sending emails from within Zoho Writer. Thereafter, future emails will go to his/her GMail account instead of the newly created Google Apps account. So, if a user uses his/her GMail address for receiving emails from within Zoho Writer, he/she should connect his/her Google Apps account to this service as well for sending mails from within Zoho Writer. While sending emails using Zoho Writer, users can enter their SMTP password or choose to use single sign-on (SSO. If users choose to use SSO and their Google Apps and Zoho Writer accounts are connected, they will not need to enter their SMTP password while sending an email from within Zoho Writer. If users choose not to use SSO or if their Google Apps and Zoho Writer accounts are not connected, they will have to enter their SMTP password for each message they send from within Zoho Writer.
