Zoho Sheet and Downtime Alert are among the most important features of Zoho Docs. They allow the users to integrate their spreadsheet with Downtime Alert. Through integration, they are able to send alerts to the users about upcoming downtime and other important events. Integration can be done using the web API.
The integration of Zoho Sheet and Downtime Alert requires two steps. First, the users should create a spreadsheet, which will be the core of the integration. Second, they should set up the integration using the web API. The steps for integrating with Zoho Sheet are given below:
First, the users should create a spreadsheet. This is used for tracking operations. The users can use an existing spreadsheet or create a new one. If they use an existing one, then they need to identify it by a specific name. The name should match with that of the cpumn ID in Zoho Sheet. This is used for identifying the cpumns in the spreadsheet.
Next, the users should create an API key to establish connection with Zoho Sheet. This is done from Settings > API Keys > Create New API Key. This step is required because Downtime Alert looks for the API key to establish connection with Zoho Sheet. The users can also use an existing API key if they have created one earlier.
Next, they should select a cpumn that they wish to use as a trigger cpumn for sending alerts. An alert will be sent whenever any change is made in this particular cpumn. It is important to note here that the changes will be tracked in real-time. This means that alerts will be sent immediately after making any changes in the selected cpumn. This way, the users will get immediate notifications about any changes made in the selected cpumn.
Next, the users should enter the details about the chosen API key in the appropriate fields. After this, they can click on Save Changes button. This will save all the information entered so far. Next, they will see an option called Append Trigger Cpumn Details To Existing Spreadsheet section at the bottom of Zoho Sheet integration page. They need to select Yes from this drop-down menu and click on Save Changes button again. This will take them back to the spreadsheet page where they started from.
After entering all these details, the users will see a new cpumn named Trigger Cpumn in their spreadsheet. Now, they should look for a trigger event in this cpumn. This means that if any changes are made in this cpumn during downtime hours, then an alert will be sent to their Inbox at another location (Downtime alert URL. For example, if we select a cpumn named Start Time in our spreadsheet, then an alert will be sent to our inbox whenever there is a change in this cpumn between 00:00 and 08:00 in the morning. The same process will be repeated at night (from 20:00 till 07:00.
