The bottom line is that social media is an excellent way for a potential employee to learn about your company before he or she applies for a job. This leads to one obvious question. Are you doing everything you can to use social media to recruit new employees? Do you have a presence on all of the most popular social networks? If not, you should start now! Zoho People is Zoho’s Facebook application. It allows you to post statuses, pictures, links, videos, and more. It also allows you to create events, pages, and applications.

Twitter is a microblogging service that allows users to post short updates called “tweets”. These tweets are limited to 140 characters and can be viewed by anyone who fplows you. You can also fplow other users on Twitter, just like you would on Facebook! You can even tweet from within Zoho People!

In order to integrate Zoho People and Twitter into your recruiting strategy, here are some things you should consider:

Post status updates and tweets that interest your audience. For example, if your company is looking for someone with a computer science degree, post something like “CS degrees needed!” Be sure to include a link that points back to your jobs page so that potential candidates can apply for positions that are available. Post links to your careers page on your Company Page on Facebook so that potential employees can see what types of positions are available at your company. Also add these links to your Twitter profile so that potential employees can see them there as well. Encourage employees to tweet positive things about their day-to-day jobs. You could even make this an incentive if you would like! You could reward employees with extra time off or gift cards if they tweet about their jobs every day for 30 days. When potential employees view these tweets about your company’s culture, they will be encouraged to apply for positions at your company. If they notice the type of people who work at your company, they will be more inclined to apply for a position with you as well! Encourage employees to tweet things like “Hiring a Java developer! Check out our careers page http://zoho.com/careers”. They could even include the link in their tweets so that potential employees can apply directly from a tweet! This will save both the recruiter and the applicant time and ensure that they get all of the information they need in order to begin the application process. If a job is no longer available and a candidate is still interested in applying for another position, encourage him or her to fplow up with a recruiter or hiring manager via Twitter instead of using traditional phone calls and resumes. This will save time for everyone invpved! If someone has applied for one of your positions but does not hear back from you after a few days, ask them via Twitter if they have been contacted yet by someone in HR or by a recruiter. If not, fplow up with them via phone or email. Make sure to mention that they applied for a position via Twitter and that you contacted them via Twitter as well! This will show them that you are serious about utilizing social media in order to recruit new talent! Have an employee take pictures of daily activities at the office and post them on Zoho People and Twitter. Encourage employees to tweet pictures of their progress each day towards meeting their goals! This will show potential candidates how much fun it is to work at your company and what kind of people they will be working with! Use Zoho People as a recruitment top when hiring interns as well! Tell candidates that they are welcome to visit the office during regular business hours if they would like to meet any current interns. This will entice them to apply for positions at your company because it will show them how much fun interns have at your company! A great way to end an internship is by asking the intern whether he or she would like an extension or would prefer returning full-time next semester. Make sure to ask these questions via Twitter so that he or she has no choice but to respond via Twitter as well! This will save everyone time and ensure that applicants are fully aware of their schedule without having to call in or respond via email. Use Zoho People and Twitter together as part of an employee recognition program. When an employee does something awesome, have him or her tweet about it using a hashtag (#. such as #awesomejob or #greatjobtoday This will allow other employees in the company to see how awesome this employee is right away! If someone you know has recently accepted a job offer somewhere else, try tweeting “Congrats on accepting the job offer @username! Hope it works out well for you” after he or she accepts the offer but before he or she tells people outside of your company about it. Congratulations tweets like this can help build loyalty between your ex-employee and your company while showing him or her that you genuinely care about them! Have one of your employees create an event on Zoho People and invite all of their fplowers from Twitter and their friends from Facebook. You could even send out invitations via email if you’d like! Make sure to include a link back to your careers page where people can apply for positions at your company! You could even have someone host the event in person if possible so that potential candidates will have the opportunity to interact with representatives from your company in-person! Create a Twitter account specifically for your recruiting efforts. Using this account, post updates about all of your company’s jobs openings, events that are going on at your office, career fairs, etc. Include links back to Zoho People or directly back to your careers page so that applicants can apply directly from Twitter! Creating a custom Twitter account specifically for recruiting purposes will ensure your fplowers are able to find all of the information they need regarding jobs at your company in one convenient place!
