Zoho CRM is an integrated spution that helps businesses scale their operations and grow customer base. It features customer relationship management, sales force automation, marketing automation, social CRM, e-commerce and cloud computing.
Gmail is a free web mail application by Google that allows users to send and receive emails. Users can access Gmail in a variety of ways including the gmail.com interface as well as through third-party programs such as Mozilla Thunderbird and Apple Mail. Google Apps users may also access Gmail via the web interface at http://mail.google.com. Gmail’s mail service has 1.5 billion users worldwide, making it the most widely used email service in the world.[3] In April 2016, Google announced the availability of new End-to-End Encryption for Gmail, in compliance with the OpenPGP standard; while not the default setting in Gmail itself at initial rplout, the feature is expected to be implemented across all platforms in the future.[4]
Integration of Zoho CRM and Gmail started with the Zapier app of Gmail. The Zapier app of Gmail allows users to connect their Gmail accounts with other services using apps like IFTTT, Slack, etc. The integration is done using an API (Application Programming Interface. To use the API, users need to create an account on Zapier and then setup an API key on Zapier which is used to authenticate each request that comes in from Google API. The API key needs to be entered in the API Key field in the General Settings tab of your Zoho CRM account. Once you have set up your API key you can proceed to set up Zoho CRM and Gmail integration. For this integration you need to add a “Zap” which is a basic integration point between two systems, like a trigger or action point. To add a Zap navigate to Settings -> Integrations -> Add Zaps. You will see a list of available integrations such as IFTTT, Slack, Trello and so on. Click on “Add New Zap” button to start creating your Zap. Now you will see a form where you need to fill in details about your Zap including Trigger App (this will be Google Chrome. and Trigger Channel (this will be New Message), Action App (this will be Zoho CRM. and Action Channel (this will be New Entry. When you are done with filling up the details click on “Save Integration” button to save your Zap. You will see a warning message saying “No matches were found for your search”. Click on “Yes” to continue anyway. Now you will see a screen showing details about your Zap along with a link titled “Try It”. Click on “Try It” and copy the URL that appears in the address bar of your browser to send it to someone who can test it for you (if you want to test it yourself you need to install the Zappier extension for Chrome. To give a try to this integration you can use my Zap which is created during this post as a reference. That’s it! Your integration between Zoho CRM and Gmail is complete!
It saves time. Since the integration between Zoho CRM and Gmail is done using Zapier app of Gmail it automatically saves time for users because there is no need to do any manual entry or copy paste since everything happens automatically once you create the Zap using the Zapier App for Gmail (you can also create a Zap using the IFTTT app. It saves money. Setting up an integration between Zoho CRM and Gmail using Zapier app of Gmail is free even if your business uses more than 100 zaps per month! If your business uses less than 100 zaps per month then you pay only $20 per month (as of 2018. It makes data entry easier. With the integration between Zoho CRM and Gmail you do not need to manually enter data into your CRM screen but instead you just forward emails right away into your CRM system which saves time for data entry personnel. It provides reliability. The integration between Zoho CRM and Gmail does not depend upon any third party company since its all done using an API provided by Google so it guarantees reliability unlike when its done using some other third party software which sometimes breaks or fails due to technical issues or some other reason.
