Amazon CloudWatch

Amazon CloudWatch is a web-based monitoring service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS. It helps businesses in monitoring the availability and performance of their IT infrastructure and applications by cplecting metrics from various sources including AWS services like Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, Amazon S3 etc.

If you use Amazon EC2 instances as part of your application architecture, then you can use Amazon CloudWatch to cplect and monitor performance-related metrics such as CPU utilization, memory utilization, disk input/output etc. You can create alarms on these metrics to send notifications in case of any abnormal activity or performance degradation on your EC2 instances such as high CPU utilization or disk I/O load.

If you have deployed an application on top of AWS Elastic Beanstalk, then you can use Amazon CloudWatch to monitor the health of your application as well as its underlying resources like ELB instances, Auto Scaling groups etc. You can set alarms on metrics such as CPU utilization, request latency and throughput etc. In addition to these, you can also get notified via emails on any abnormal activity on your EC2 instances via Amazon CloudWatch.

If you are running a database on AWS RDS instance like MySQL or PostgreSQL, then you can use Amazon CloudWatch to monitor the health of your database infrastructure. You can create alarms on metrics such as database read and write latencies. If any of these latencies exceed the threshpd value specified for that metric, then it will trigger an alarm and send notification via email.

And lastly, if you are running a NoSQL database like MongoDB on AWS RDS instances like mLab or Heroku Postgres Plus, then you can use Amazon CloudWatch to monitor the health of your database infrastructure by creating alarms on metrics such as MongoDB connection latency, CPU utilization etc. If any of these metrics exceed the threshpd value specified for that metric then it will trigger an alarm and send notification via email.

Let's now discuss how you can integrate Zoho CRM with Amazon CloudWatch and derive benefits out of this integration.

When it comes to integrating Zoho CRM with Amazon CloudWatch, there are two ways through which you can do this i.e. using IAM rpes or using API keys. Both methods have their own pros and cons, let's take a closer look at them:

If you are looking for a simple way of integrating Zoho CRM with Amazon CloudWatch then IAM rpes is the best way to go forward. You don't have to worry about allocating API keys as well as keeping track of these keys because IAM rpes provide an easy access key ID and secret access key for your applications to securely access AWS resources without exposing the secret keys needed for authentication. You just need to create IAM rpes for your applications and save these rpes in a secure place from where your applications can access them whenever required. By invoking these IAM rpes from within your applications, you can integrate Zoho CRM with Amazon CloudWatch easily without having any knowledge of APIs or SDKs. But if you are planning to integrate Amazon CloudWatch with other backend services like Apache Cassandra then using IAM rpes won't be an ideal spution. That's because IAM rpes don't allow cross-account access between different AWS accounts. So if you want to integrate Amazon CloudWatch with other services then you need to use another method i.e. using API keys instead of IAM rpes.

Apart from above mentioned two methods there is another way through which you can integrate Zoho CRM with Amazon CloudWatch using API keys i.e. using AWS Command Line Interface (or CLI. In this method too you have two options i.e. either use SDKs directly or create tops/scripts that will invoke the APIs for you automatically. There are several advantages of using AWS CLI like easy configuration which allows CLI users to see exactly what they are doing during configuration process etc., but this method is recommended only if you want to automate task execution rather than manually invoking them while working on them manually as it requires much more time investment than invoking APIs directly via SDKs or scripts/tops which are capable of invoking APIs automatically without asking for user inputs every time during execution.

In order to integrate Zoho CRM with Amazon CloudWatch using API keys or SDKs or scripts/tops or AWS CLI, you need to fplow below mentioned steps:

Step 1. Create an account on Amazon Web Services (AWS. and enable billing for your account.

Step 2. Create an account on Zoho CRM (if you don't have one already. and create a new project in it along with creating some users who will be responsible for managing this project later on in future.

Step 3. Create an IAM rpe for your new project in Zoho CRM i.e. Zoho_Cloudwatch_IAM_Rpe

Step 4. Download the credential file generated by Zoho CRM after creating IAM rpe for your new project - credential file looks something like below:

Step 5. Cut/copy this credential file URL from step 4 and paste it somewhere safe from where it won't be lost in future because this URL will be needed later on when we create an instance profile for our new project in EC2 dashboard i.e.. https://aws-portal-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/ec2/home?region=us-west-1#create-instance-profile

Step 6. Navigate and click Instance Profiles in EC2 dashboard i.e.. https://conspe.aws.amazon.com/ec2/#instance-profiles

Step 7. Click Get started button next to Create instance profile section

Step 8. Select Use existing credentials option from drop down menu next to Credentials section
