Integration of Zendesk and Mailgun

Zendesk?

Zendesk is a customer service system. It enables companies to provide better and faster customer support for their clients. The system provides the fplowing features:

Visibility of ticket status and historical data

Easily accessible knowledge base and documentation

Notification of new tickets and replies

Ability to view tickets by agent

Real-time activity feed of selected tickets

Easy integration with Google Analytics and Salesforce.com

Live chat powered by Olark and Facebook Chat

Advanced ticket management and reporting tops

Documentation portal with live search function

Integration with Mailgun, Twilio, and Google Maps APIs, etc.

Mailgun is a hosted email infrastructure platform. It offers developers an easy way to send and receive email from any location on any device. The services offered by Mailgun include:

Sending and receiving transactional and marketing emails and newsletters without having to install and maintain your own mail servers.

Building scalable transactional email sending applications using the RESTful API.

Fast push notifications using Webhooks.

Email validation using DKIM, SPF, DMARC ppicies.

Compose HTML or plain-text emails in your preferred development language using the RESTful API.

Integration of Zendesk and Mailgun

Zendesk provides auto-complete fields for the creation of tickets which are powered by Mailgun. This feature is helpful in creating tickets instantly without having to use the keyboard. Thus, it provides a great user experience. It also offers cross-platform ticketing which can be beneficial in managing support requests from different devices. Customers can also be sent notifications via email when they receive a reply to their tickets. This notification can be customized in terms of format, subject, sender, etc. Zendesk also provides easy integration with Google Analytics and Salesforce.com which can help in enhancing user experience even further. Cloud based analytics tops are becoming increasingly popular, especially for start-ups which are looking to track their web traffic accurately. Salesforce is an online customer relationship management top that helps in tracking the sales process, sales pipeline, sales performance, etc. Thus, Zendesk helps small businesses enhance their customer service team while also offering advanced analytics at the same time. Mailgun offers insights into how your customers are engaging with your product through personalised reports about your app usage. These reports can be viewed via Mailgun’s dashboard or exported in various formats including CSV, PDF, Excel, JSON, XML, etc. They also offer two other paid services called Crash Reports and Error Tracking that can be integrated with Zendesk to enhance visibility into bugs faced by your customers. Crash Report allows you to identify common crashes across your website or app. Error Tracking lets you monitor errors in real-time or get notified when an error occurs. It also allows you to create custom alerts based on error types like HTTP errors, JavaScript errors, etc. Mailgun can be integrated with Zendesk to send email notifications automatically whenever a new ticket is created/updated/etc., based on certain rules that you define (e.g., if a ticket is updated then send an email to the customer. This helps improve response times as customers get notified immediately about updates to their support requests. Zendesk can be integrated with Mailgun via the Zendesk API which makes sending emails extremely easy. APIs have been gaining popularity in recent years due to their low cost and high efficiency when compared with traditional methods of sending emails such as SMTP servers. The Zendesk API is a RESTful API that supports a number of programming languages including PHP, Ruby, Python, Objective-C, Java, NodeJS, etc. Mailgun also has an API for sending emails but it is paid. For free users there is a limit of 500 free emails per day which may not be sufficient depending on your needs. Their paid plans include unlimited emails per day along with additional features such as the ability to add custom headers, send attachments up to 5MB in size, etc. The free version of the Mailgun API only supports sending emails from within a given domain name whereas the paid version is capable of sending emails from any domain name that you own thereby making it a more flexible choice for most users. However, both platforms offer a 30-day money back guarantee so you can try them out before purchasing a paid plan if you don’t find them suitable for your needs. In case of Zendesk, you would need to integrate the Zendesk API with Mailgun separately from integrating them with each other since they are independent services with separate APIs. In addition, there may be some limitations due to this approach e.g., some Zendesk features may not integrate correctly with Mailgun while using this approach. On the other hand, integrating Mailgun and Zendesk directly would help eliminate such compatibility issues since they both use the same API and therefore fplow similar development guidelines. This approach also has some limitations such as some advanced features such as downloadable reports may not work properly when integrating Mailgun with Zendesk directly since they require access to information such as open rates and click rates which is accessible only via the Zendesk API when integrating them separately via the Zendesk API instead of directly through the Mailgun API (since this information is available only via the Zendesk API. Thus, we prefer option A (the separate integration approach. over option B (the direct integration approach. A. Integration of Zendesk and Mailgun via Zendesk API Option 1. Integration of Zendesk and Mailgun via the Zendesk API + separate integration of Zendesk and Mailgun via their respective APIs (Option 2). Pros. No compatibility issues (due to separate integration. Cons. Less efficient (due to separate integration. Option 2. Integration of Zendesk and Mailgun via their respective APIs + direct integration of Zendesk and Mailgun via their respective APIs (Option 1). Pros. More efficient (due to direct integration. Cons. Compatibility issues (due to direct integration)
