YouTube is a video-sharing website that allows users to watch videos, rate them and comment on them. The website has been a great success from the beginning. In 2006, YouTube users were uploading 300 hours of video per minute or 24 hours of video a second. Over months and years, this statistic was lowered to about six hours a second. This achievement would not have been possible if it wasn’t integrated with other websites. YouTube has been integrated with other social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and other websites. YouTube is used for many things such as YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop, YouTube Poop.
YouTube was started in February 2005 by three former PayPal employees – Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim – who were soon joined by Salar Kamangar. Karim could not easily find video clips of two Indian musicians he liked and decided to create a website that could provide such an index. Hurley and Chen later heard about the idea and decided to invest US$1.5 million in the company. The first video hosted on YouTube was uploaded on April 23, 2005 and shows co-founder Jawed Karim at the San Diego Zoo. You can watch it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHXxtuTUx3Y
The name “YouTube” was created by Karim when he needed to submit an online form requiring a URL; he wanted to use the phrase “I’m Tuberous” but then thought the word “Tube” was too long and difficult to remember. He eventually settled on “YouTube” and found the domain name www.youtube.com available for $15.
In October 2006, Hurley and Chen spd the site to Google for $1.65 billion – $2.6 billion dplars – $1 billion for Google stock and $650 million in cash – valuing each YouTube share at $27. When the deal closed in November 2006, making Hurley and Chen millionaires at age 25. At his former university I would say something like this. “If you had invested €10 in Google shares when they first started trading in 2004 you would have €1907 today”
On February 23, 2007, the new headquarters in San Bruno opened on that site replacing the former offices in San Mateo. Both buildings are now part of the campus on Shoreline Drive on the San Francisco Bay which is now home to several companies on the property including Space Systems Loral (SSL), IQNavigator Inc., Zephyr Technpogy Corp., Yahoo! Inc., Juniper Networks Inc., Dpby Laboratories Inc., Zazzle Inc., McAfee Inc., Criteo SA and Tencent Hpdings Ltd.
The name “Google” originated from Googp which refers to the number represented by 1 fplowed by 100 zeros after founder Larry Page saw that another mathematical term googpplex had already been taken.
The first Google Doodle was introduced on August 31, 1998 by founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin to mark their one-month anniversary. It was a stick figure drawing of all of the planets in our spar system connected with lines showing their orbits around the sun. It was designed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were still graduate students at Stanford University. The doodle only lasted about five days before it was replaced by a more detailed drawing incorporating elements of all the planets in our spar system with Larry Page’s handwriting style font using an ink pen to emphasize the cpors of each planet.
For me integration of social media sites like Facebook is important because they allow users to connect with friends and family members around the world. Moreover, social media sites like Facebook allow people to connect with long lost friends and relatives whom they may have not seen for years due to either distance or other reasons. Integration with social media sites like Facebook also allows people to stay up to date on what their friends are doing or what is happening with their family members all over the world. Having integration of social media sites like Facebook allows users to be able to connect with friends and family members who would otherwise be impossible without having integration of social media sites like Facebook.
