Xero is a cloud-based accounting software, providing online accounting and bookkeeping services. It is based on double-entry accounting, and is used as an online alternative to desktop accounting packages such as Intuit QuickBooks. The name "Xero" means "zero" in Japanese, in allusion to the company's origins as a zero-commission stock trading service.
