They have over 4 million users all over the world, including more than 1 million small businesses in Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, UK, Spain, France and Germany.

    OpsGenie

OpsGenie is an alert and notification management spution that allows you to integrate your alerts with Xero. OpsGenie can send you emails, SMS, voice calls, or mobile push notifications. It also supports Ad-hoc notifications via SMS, email, or mobile push. These notifications are sent based on the start of an incident.

    Integration of Xero and OpsGenie

What does it mean to integrate Xero and OpsGenie It means that once you connect your Xero account to OpsGenie, all incidents created in Xero will be automatically converted into alerts in OpsGenie.

How to create an integration between Xero and OpsGenie There are two methods to connect your Xero account to OpsGenie. One is through the Xero API. The second is via Zapier. Let’s check out how both integration methods work.

Method 1. Using the Xero API

To create an integration via the Xero API, you need to fplow these steps:

Step 1. Create your Xero API credentials

Refer to this article for detailed instructions on how to create your Xero API credentials at https://docs.opsgenie.com/how-to/create-your-xero-api-credentials/. In general, you will need to go to http://www.xero.com/appsew#/applications/developer and create a new application. After creating the app, you will receive a set of credentials that look like this:

{ "client_id" . "xxxxxxxxxx" , "secret" . "xxxxxxxxxx" }

These credentials are used as a secret key pair to access your Xero account from within the OpsGenie integration topkit (described below. Always keep these credentials secured! You can find more information about these credentials at http://www.xero.com/developers/docs/guides/credentials/.

Step 2. Get the Integration Topkit from OpsGenie

OpsGenie provides a client library for integrating with their service from within your application. This library allows us to do things such as sending emails and SMSes, sending HTTP requests to your systems, etc. We recommend that you download this library from https://github.com/opsgenie/opsgenie-ruby-sdk or https://github.com/opsgenie/opsgenie-python-sdk and then install it on your system using the instructions provided here. https://docs.opsgenie.com/integration-topkit/. You can also use the gem package manager if you prefer. gem install opsgenie . More information about our Ruby SDK can be found at https://github.com/opsgenie/opsgenie-ruby-sdk and more information about our Python SDK can be found at https://github.com/opsgenie/opsgenie-python-sdk . It’s important that you review the integration guide for your language of choice before proceeding with step 3 below. More information about this integration guide can be found at https://docs.opsgenie.com/integration-topkit/en/latest/. Once you have the OpsGenie integration topkit installed on your system, you can proceed with step 3 below!

  • Integration steps with the OpsGenie integration topkit

Step 3. Registering your Xero account with OpsGenie and configuring the integration

After you have installed the integration topkit on your system and reviewed its documentation, we can now proceed to register our Xero account with OpsGenie and configure the integration with it! To do so, we must first gather some information about our Xero account:

To register our Xero account with OpsGenie, we need four pieces of information about our Xero account:

Project ID . This is a unique identifier for each project in your Xero account. If you don’t know it, simply create a new project in Xero and then take note of the project ID while it’s still empty (that is, before any tasks or projects are added to it. Your username . This is the username associated with your Xero account (also usually containing your email address. If you don’t know it, simply click on “Account Settings” in the top right corner at https://xero.com and then find “Your username” under “Account Information” in the left sidebar. Your password . This is the password associated with your Xero account (for obvious reasons. If you don’t know it, simply change it by clicking on “Account Settings” in the top right corner at https://xero.com and then finding “Password” under “Account Information” in the left sidebar. Your API credentials . These are the API credentials that you created in step 1 above, described earlier in this section. After you have gathered this information about your Xero account, you can fplow these steps to register your Xero account with OpsGenie and configure the integration with it. Step 1. Create a new project in OpsGenie To create a new project in OpsGenie for this integration, visit https://www.opsgenie.com/myopsgenie/projectsname=XERO_account_integration&type=XROPSGENIE&project_id=123456789abcdefgh1234ghijklmnopqrstuvwxABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghghg&key=xyzdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890abcdefg1234567890a Step 2. Create new projects and add them to our newly created project We can now create new projects and add them to our newly created project (we created in Step 1 above. Since we want to add all of our new projects to this one project (the new project we created in Step 1), we will add these new projects as subprojects of the newly created project (created in Step 1. We can add projects as subprojects like so. Adding projects as subprojects via the UI To add new projects as subprojects via the UI, simply click on “Add Subprojects” in the upper right corner of myopsgenie page near the top of most pages of OpsGenie Dashboard. Adding projects as subprojects via the API To add new projects as subprojects via the API, use a POST request similar to this example. curl -i -X POST -H "Content-Type. application/json" -d '{"subproject". {"name":"Project 1", "project_id":"1234123412341234123412341234123412341234123412341234123412341234123412341234123412341234", "project_type":"XROPSGENIE", "project
