Integration of WordPress and Stripe

WordPress?

WordPress is an open-source content management system, also known as CMS. It can be used to create websites and blogs. It is written in PHP and MySQL (a database management system. WordPress is currently the most popular CMS on the web. According to W3Techs, more than 60% of all websites use WordPress.

Stripe?

Stripe is a payment processor. It allows anyone to accept payments online through credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, and other payment methods. Stripe gives users access to their data via a dashboard and API. Stripe is used by many people around the world including American Apparel, Lyft, Kickstarter, Reddit, Shopify, and Wikipedia.

Integration of WordPress and Stripe

WordPress supports the integration of Stripe through a plugin called Stripe Payments for WooCommerce. Using this plugin, you can accept payments through Stripe. To integrate Stripe with your WordPress site, you need to register for a Stripe account and activate the Stripe plugin. You will then need to connect your WordPress site with your Stripe account.

Benefits of Integration of WordPress and Stripe

WordPress and Stripe are integrated in several ways. These include the fplowing:

  • WordPress can show and hide the credit card fields on the checkout page based on the number of products being purchased. For example, if one product is being purchased there will be only one field for entering the credit card information. If five products are being purchased, there will be five fields for entering the credit card information. This saves time for customers by automatically showing/hiding the pertinent fields depending on the number of products being purchased.
  • The Stripe plugin decreases the possibility of fraud by verifying that the customer’s credit card came from an actual bank account. It does this by sending an authorization code to the customer’s mobile phone number or email address. This ensures that the customer has possession of the actual card. If they do not have possession of the card, then they would not have access to the verification code.
  • The Stripe plugin decreases order abandonment by allowing customers to change their shipping address after confirming their order. This is possible because the plugin integrates with WooCommerce. WooCommerce allows you to add/change/remove shipping addresses without leaving the order page on which they were added or changed. This is beneficial because it eliminates the confusion that often occurs when customers have to log in to a different page just to make changes to their shipping address.
  • Customers are able to see their order history and past payments using the Stripe plugin. This feature allows them to track their orders easily and also provides them peace of mind knowing that their personal information won’t be stpen since they don’t have to enter any passwords or credit card information again during checkout.

WordPress and Stripe are integrated in several ways including showing/hiding credit card fields automatically based on product quantity, preventing order abandonment by allowing customers to change shipping addresses after confirming their order, and allowing customers to see their order history and past payments using Stripe’s dashboard/API. This integration greatly reduces the chance of fraud while at the same time reducing checkout wait time by providing customers with easy access to their order history/past payment records without having to enter any passwords or credit card information again during checkout. It also provides a seamless user experience by displaying only pertinent fields based on product quantity. It is highly recommended that WordPress users integrate Stripe into their websites in order to increase sales conversion rates and minimize fraud risks, especially since it can be done through a plugin and does not require coding knowledge.
