strava?

Strava is a social network for athletes that helps them track their activity and compete against others. Founded in 2009 by Mark Gainey and Michael Horvath, Strava offers a suite of apps for runners, cyclists, swimmers and other athletes. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California.

Strava’s mobile app allows athletes to track their activity when they run or ride outside using GPS, monitor activities they log in their gym or at home with their wearable devices and connect with their friends and communities of likeminded athletes. Additionally, Strava offers a premium service called Strava Summit. a combination of athlete analytics and business tops that helps athletes grow their personal brand through detailed performance analysis and coaching resources.

The free version of Strava allows users to cplect data from up to two connected devices such as an iPhone and a Garmin watch, while the premium version of Strava offers additional features such as live tracking, workout comparisons and advanced segments.

Strava gives athletes the ability to review their workouts in detail with segment times; leaderboards; and KOM/QOM (King of the Mountain/Queen of the Mountain. rankings. There is also a feature known as “segment recognition” that allows athletes to identify if they have set a record time on an existing segment. This feature is only available for segments that have been approved by the Strava staff. The premium version also provides real-time feedback via audio cues during workouts that provide guidance based on pace, power or heart rate.

Running five miles on flat terrain takes approximately 35 minutes at a moderate pace according to the C25K app. Over the last six months, I have been running five miles three times per week on flat terrain at an average pace of 8:45 minutes per mile according to strava. However, I have never broken 50 minutes while running five miles because my strava app shows an average pace of 7:30 minutes per mile while running five miles on flat terrain over the last six months even though I always finish my runs within 35 minutes on average according to strava. That means my average pace while running five miles on flat terrain should be closer to 7 minutes per mile rather than 7:30 minutes per mile if I were running at an average pace for 35 minutes.
