Our topic is the integration of WordPress and PostgreSQL.
WordPress is a free content management system (CMS. based on PHP
(PostgreSQL is an object-relational database management system (ORDBMS. written in the C language)
WordPress was developed by Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little in 2003. It is released under the GPLv2 license. WordPress runs on a wide variety of web servers, operating systems, and hardware platforms. The software is available in over 23 languages.
PostgreSQL is an open source object-relational database management system (ORDBMS. It was created at UC Berkeley by Michael Stonebraker and others, and now it is maintained by a group of developers led by Andrew Yu and others.
We will start with an overview of the features of WordPress and PostgreSQL. After that, we will describe how to integrate WordPress with PostgreSQL.

PostgreSQL is an open source object-relational database management system (ORDBMS. It was created at UC Berkeley by Michael Stonebraker and others, and now it is maintained by a group of developers led by Andrew Yu and others. The abbreviation “PostgreSQL” stands for “Postgres” (a project at Berkeley. “Relational” (its object model. “System” (as in System R. PostgreSQL is an extensible database which supports almost all SQL constructs (see SQL standard. Also it has many advanced features like foreign keys, recursive queries etc… Its main aim is to manage data reliably and efficiently. It also provides high extensibility through user-defined objects types and operators, including support for regular expressions and multilingual text search. In addition to the common data manipulation language features of INSERT , SELECT , UPDATE , DELETE , it supports many higher level data types, for example. arrays, JSON objects, XML structures. Moreover it supports several different types of indexes for different purposes. GiST , GIN , SP-GiST etc… It also has advanced features like online backups to disk or tape drives, automatic crash recovery after a system failure or power failure. The online backup feature is known as Hot Standby . This feature allows several nodes to share the same data directory so they can be synchronized instantly when one node goes offline due to failure or maintenance tasks. They can continue operating independently of each other until one of them becomes active again.
PostgreSQL is available for many different operating systems like Windows, Linux, FreeBSD etc… It can be compiled from source code or installed from pre-compiled binaries packages (e.g., RPMs for Red Hat Linux or debs for Debian Linux etc…. Furthermore it can be used through installation of PostgresSQL database engine as a service on Windows Server or Mac OS X server etc…
