Integration of WordPress Quiz Maker and ClickMeeting

  • Introduction:
  • WordPress Quiz Maker and ClickMeeting are two products of Automattic, a company located in San Francisco. WordPress is one of the most popular blogging platform and was developed as a free and open source alternative to other platforms such as Blogger and Movable Type. WordPress has grown tremendously since its inception in 2003 and now powers about 22% of all websites (pewinternet.org.

It also contains a plugin called WordPress Quiz Maker that enables users to create quizzes and surveys and then embed them into their blogs and WordPress pages. It is said that the plugin is the only WordPress plugin that does not require you to give up your rights to your own content or force you to display ads on your site. For quiz creators, it provides a simple drag-and-drop interface that makes it easy for anyone to create professional-looking quizzes without any knowledge of programming.

ClickMeeting is a program that allows users to take online meetings with live video chat, shared whiteboard, voice chat, ppls, screen sharing, and more. It claims to be the world's easiest way to connect people online for presentations, classes, meetings, conferences, parties, and more. It is used by over 10 million people every month, ranging from small businesses to giant corporations like Microsoft, Pfizer, Wal-Mart, Dell, Deloitte, IBM, The New York Times, Time Warner Cable, Cisco, eBay, Adobe Systems Incorporated, Yahoo!, AT&T Inc., The United Nations, Oracle Corporation, The U.S. Department of Interior, The U.S. Department of State, The U.S. Navy, The U.S. Air Force, American Greetings Corp., NBC Universal, The National Football League - NFL Network, The National Basketball Association - NBA TV Networks, MTV Networks Music Group, Discovery Communications Inc., Sony Music Entertainment Inc., Sony Pictures Television Inc., Apple Computer Inc., Walt Disney Co., Apple Computer Inc., National Geographic Society, Mattel Inc., Paramount Home Video Inc., CBS Radio Inc., CBS Television Network, Fox Network Television Stations Group, Major League Baseball Properties Inc., Turner Broadcasting System, Nelvana Enterprises Ltd., Microsoft Corporation, Intel Corporation, Symantec Corporation, Avid Technpogy Inc., Marriott International Inc. And many more (clickmeeting.com.

WordPress Quiz Maker and ClickMeeting can be integrated together so that users can create quizzes through WordPress Quiz Maker and then display them in ClickMeeting for online meetings. This way they do not need to use two separate programs to conduct the meeting and create the quizzes for their students.

WordPress Quiz Maker works by adding “quiz” shortcodes into your blog posts or pages. A shortcode is a short way to write out HTML code. When you install the plugin (which comes with the WordPress software. it creates a new “Quiz” menu where you can choose what type of quiz you want to create. There are 9 types of quizzes available:

    • Multiple Choice – You can create multiple choice questions with this option. Each question will consist of 4 answer choices.
    • True/False – With this option you can create true/false questions using check boxes.
    • Fill In The Blank – This option allows you to create fill in the blank questions using a text box for users to enter their answers.
    • Multiple Fill In The Blank – This option allows you to create fill in the blank questions using a text box for users to enter their answers more than once.
    • Essay – This option allows you to create article questions where users can write their responses in text boxes. You can also add a minimum length required for their written responses so that they have some direction on how long their articles should be.
    • Ranking – This option allows you to create ranking questions where users can rank their response options from 1-5 or from 1-10. You can also add a minimum number of results needed for them to submit an answer on this question type. This way you can ensure that they have at least 20 results before submitting an answer on this question type.
    • Short Answer – This option allows you to create short answer questions where users can type in their responses in text boxes that have word limits on them. You can set the limit on these text boxes from 10-2000 characters. You can also add a minimum number of results needed for them to submit an answer on this question type. This way you can ensure that they have at least 20 results before submitting an answer on this question type.
    • Time Limit – This option allows you to set time limits on your quiz questions dynamically based on user response time. You can set time limits from 30 seconds up to 5 minutes per question depending on how much time you want users to spend on each question type.
    • Jeopardy Game – This option allows you to create Jeopardy game questions with up to 3 categories and 8 questions per category. If your quiz contains more than 8 questions per category then the questions with lower scores will be hidden until they get enough points in order to show higher ranking questions. Once they complete a category they will be taken back to the main category page and asked which category they would like to play next when they answer a question in another category that doesn't fit the criteria needed to advance in that category (for example if they need 20 points but only have 15 points in one category they will be asked if they want to continue playing the category when they select a question in another category. They can also quit playing the game at any time by clicking on the "Quit" link at the top of the page. On this game type you are able to choose whether or not you want users to be able to skip questions that they get wrong after seeing the correct answer or if they want them to see that question again until they get it right. This feature is disabled by default but you can enable it by checking the box next to "Show incorrect answer" under the "Settings" tab. You are also able to choose if you want users to see categories in random order or if you want them ordered by highest score first or lowest score first under the "Settings" tab as well under "Jeopardy". Another thing that is very handy about this game type is that you are able to restrict categories so that certain categories are only available after users have completed other ones first. You are able to specify which categories are considered dependent on others under "Settings". If you enable this feature then users cannot move onto categories unless they have completed all other categories above them in the list first (if there are other categories. There are four different ways that you are able to restrict categories so that only users who have completed certain categories are allowed access to other categories. 1. Restricting by Question Count - You can allow access if user has answered at least 2 out of 3 categories (for example if user has only done 2 out of 3 categories then he will be asked if he wants to continue with the 3rd category when he selects a question in another category. 2. Restricting by Total Points - You can allow access if user has earned at least 10 out of 25 points (for example if user has only earned 5 out of 25 points then he will be asked if he wants to continue earning points when he selects a question in another category. 3. Restricting by Percentage Completion - You can allow access if user has completed at least 50% of his game (for example if user has finished half of his game then he will be asked if he wants to continue when he selects a question in another category. 4. Restricting by Specific Categories - You can restrict access based on specific categories instead of requiring completion in all categories above it (for example if user needs 20 points but only has 15 points in one category then he will be asked if he wants to continue playing the category when he selects a question in another category. ClickMeeting works by allowing users to post links on their websites so that people who want to join their meetings can click on them and go directly into the meeting room without having to leave their website or even close any windows that they may have open during the meeting (it supports sharing screen activity. Of course you are also able to download files during your meetings through ClickMeeting as well which makes it easy for participants who don't want others watching over their shoulder while they download files during their meetings because it allows them privacy while downloading files during meetings. One great thing about ClickMeeting is that it has built-in support for Google Calendar which means that if someone adds an event through Google Calendar then everyone else who uses ClickMeeting will automatically get an email notification when that event
