Integration of WooCommerce and DocuSign

WooCommerce is one of the most successful derivative projects built on WordPress open-source platform.

WooCommerce was initially created in September 2011 by Mike Jpley and a team of developers. It was designed as an e-commerce plugin for WordPress, and within three years, it had become the most popular e-commerce platform based on WordPress. In 2016, WooCommerce has crossed 30 million downloads and nearly 2 million active online stores. Currently, it powers over 40% of all e-Commerce sites on the web and is the preferred choice for many of the world’s largest businesses.

The success of WooCommerce is directly linked to the flexibility and extensibility that have been incorporated in its architecture. This architecture allows customizing the application to fit a wide range of business models. In other words, WooCommerce can be integrated with numerous third-party applications and plugins. One of the most prominent examples is DocuSign, a document management platform that makes it possible to perform various tasks associated with document signing — from sharing documents to processing emails, sending PDFs, notification, assigning tasks, and uploading files.

Integration of WooCommerce and DocuSign

One of the popular features added to WooCommerce is the integration with DocuSign. The user can now use this e-commerce platform to create, send, and sign any type of document.

The integration between the two platforms works as fplows:

The customer creates a purchase order in WooCommerce and adds DocuSign to the Checkout process;

The customer signs the document through DocuSign;

At this point, a copy of the signed document is attached to the purchase order;

The store owner reviews the purchase order and ships the product;

When the customer receives the product they open their copy of the document to check that it is right and to sign it again if necessary;

When they are satisfied with the product they sign the document using DocuSign. This time, a copy of this document is sent back to the store owner;

The store owner verifies that everything is fine with the document and sends it to DocuSign to be stored in their secure cloud;

Using DocuSign and its integration with Salesforce CRM, Slack, Zapier, Google Sheets, etc., you can easily keep track of every step of your customer’s journey!
