The integration of WHMCS and ServiceNow is achieved by creating custom fields in ServiceNow for WHMCS module labels and then creating a custom translation plugin for WHMCS so that it can translate these custom fields into information that can be used to populate custom fields in ServiceNow.
(1. Create custom fields in ServiceNow for WHMCS module labels:
From the “Setup” tab -> “Custom Fields”, create a custom field for each label from WHMCS module. For example, if you want to create a custom field for module “Payment Gateways” from WHMCS, create a custom field named “Payment Gateways” with type “Text Field”. Set format as “Plain Text”. Set the required value as “Payment Gateways”. Save the custom field (Figure 2.
Figure 2. Create custom fields in ServiceNow for WHMCS module labels (2. Create translation plugin for WHMCS so that it can translate these custom fields into information that can be used to populate custom fields in ServiceNow. A translation plugin is only required when you have custom fields that exists only in one system but not the other (i.e. custom fields created in WHMCS but not in ServiceNow. To create a translation plugin for WHMCS, from the WHMCS contrp panel, go to the “Plugins” tab -> “Translation Scripts” -> “Create New Script”. In the pop-up window, enter a name for your script (for example. “ServiceNow Translation Script”. and click on “Next” button to continue. In the next page, select “WHMCS Custom Fields” from the drop-down menu “Target System” whose corresponding values should be translated into corresponding values to be populated in fields in ServiceNow (Figure 3. Click on “Next” button to continue. Figure 3. Select “WHMCS Custom Fields” from the drop-down menu In the next page, select a language from “Language Codes” whose corresponding translations should be used to populate corresponding values into fields in ServiceNow (Figure 4. Click on “Next” button to continue. Figure 4. Select a language from “Language Codes” Next, enter label translations (Figure 5. that will appear in WHMCS instead of original labels (i.e. payment gateways instead of Payment Gateways. Tick the checkbox “Enable this module translation” for each module from WHMCS that are to be translated using this script (Figure 6. Click on “Next” button to continue. Figure 5. Enter label translations Figure 6. Tick the checkbox “Enable this module translation” for each module from WHMCS that are to be translated using this script Finally, click on “Finish & Install” button to save your translation script (Figure 7. Figure 7. Click on “Finish & Install” button This will automatically install the translation script into WHMCS. All field labels from above steps should now have their corresponding translations under the translated modules (payment gateways instead of Payment Gateways), as illustrated in Figure 8 below. Figure 8. All field labels now have their corresponding translations under the translated modules With this setup, whenever there is a change made to any of the labels from WHMCS module/addon (i.e. new labels were added or pd labels were removed), you need to update these translations accordingly in order to make sure it still properly fills out your custom fields in ServiceNow. To update these translations, go back into the translation script and click on “Install New Translations” button. This will automatically install updated translations into WHMCS (Figure 9. Figure 9. Go back into the translation script and click on “Install New Translations" button So whenever there is a change made to any of the labels from WHMCS module/addon (i.e. new labels were added or pd labels were removed), you need to update these translations accordingly in order to make sure it still properly fills out your custom fields in ServiceNow. To update these translations, go back into the translation script and click on "Install New Translations" button. This will automatically install updated translations into WHMCS (Figure 10. Figure 10. Install updated translations into WHMCS As you may have expected, there is no need to create a similar translation script for ServiceNow since it already has all the necessary fields that matches with WHMCS module labels/addons.
