Benefits of Integration of WHMCS and Miro

This article is intended to be a short summary covering the relationship between Miro and WHMCS. While both are commerce related applications, there is an obvious synergistic relationship which is not necessarily apparent to the casual observer. These two applications each have specific strengths which complement one another. This article will discuss how they can be used together to improve the experience of users who are utilizing both. They are both open source projects, but have very different approaches to how they are developed and released. To fully understand the benefits of integration, it is necessary to understand how the two products work individually.

WHMCS ( is an easy to use fully featured billing and commerce management system for web hosting providers. It allows admins to create packages and add-ons, manage their clients, create invoices, track payments, generate reports, and customize their online store. The goal is to make the day-to-day operations of a web hosting company easier and more profitable. It's an impressive product with a lot of features that set it apart from its competitors. It does a great job at providing a professional online storefront for your business.

Miro ( is a free, open source video application that can be used on Linux, Mac OS X, Windows, or other platforms that can run Java 1.6+. It's designed to be simple, fast and easy to use. It has a clean interface where you can search for videos across multiple sites including YouTube, Google Video, Daily Motion, and Metacafe. You can also add videos from your computer or just about any other source that you can think of. One feature that sets Miro apart from other video player applications is its ability to play all sorts of files including flv files, mpeg4 files, mp3s, avi files, etc. This makes Miro very useful for playing a wide variety of video sources. Miro is essentially a front end for the video sites that it supports, but it provides an interface for managing your video cplection that works well and is very intuitive.

The integration of Miro into WHMCS is something we've been considering for several months now - it's something I've personally wanted since I first started using Miro back in 2006 because I thought it was a great idea at the time. However I did not pursue it until recently when my partner suggested that it would be a good thing to do here at GTS Webhosting. We decided to take a look at it and see what would be invpved in making this happen. What we found was that they were actually already written in such a way that they could be integrated with one another relatively easily. So we decided to go ahead with it and we've been working on it for the past month or so and have gotten most of the pieces in place now. As I write this, the integration is still in beta testing, but should be ready for public release by this weekend or early next week at the latest. Once this happens we will begin more aggressive advertising for these two products as part of our unique value proposition to customers and prospects. I think that this will provide us with considerable differentiation from our competitors because no one else is currently doing this today - at least not that I'm aware of anyway. Some people might say that this kind of cplaboration between two competing companies is unusual - but I don't see it that way at all. We're not really "competing" with anyone - we're just trying to provide an excellent product that helps our customers succeed in their own endeavors so that they can stay happy with us as their hosting provider. I think that everyone wins when companies work together like this and instead of competing against one another, we encourage our customers to support one another so that everyone succeeds together over time. I think this kind of cplaboration between companies will become much more common in the future as people realize how much better things go when you work with one another instead of trying to beat each other out of business. I am very excited about the possibilities here!
