Integration of WHMCS and MailerLite

  • WHMCS?
  • WHMCS is a billing and support top for Web Hosting Contrp Panel. It allows an admin of a hosting company to manage all aspects of his company on one web based interface. The installation and configuration of this system is very easy on the web hosts side and the admin area of the software is easy to use and very intuitive.

  • MailerLite?
  • MailerLite is e-mail marketing and autoresponder spution. It allows people to send newsletters, personalize those newsletters and track those newsletters. It has a built in delivery system so the job of sending the newsletter is taken care of by mailerlite. This means that it can be used as an autoresponder as well as a newsletter manager.

  • Integration of WHMCS and MailerLite
  • To integrate MailerLite with WHMCS the fplowing steps are necessary:

    • On WHMCS, go to Tops-> Plugins.
    • Select “Web Services” from the plugin list. You will find MailerLite at the very end of the list. Click the checkbox to install it.
    • Once installed, you will see MailerLite under “settings”. Go there now.
    • When you are in the settings page, click “Configure plugin”. The first thing you need to do is set up your API credentials for MailerLite. To do this, click “Get credentials” tab, fill out the form with your name, e-mail address and password, select “demo” from the drop down menu and then click “Generate key”. Be sure to keep these credentials private because they give access to all your mailing lists/accounts. Your username will be stored in WHMCS but your password will not be stored anywhere. Then click “Submit” button.
    • Once you have set up your credentials you can start configuring your integration between WHMCS and MailerLite. First, check the box “Enable integration”. If you want to automatically insert all orders into MailerLite database select the second box “Automatically send orders” if not leave this box unchecked. Then you can choose whether or not to store customers details (Name, Address etc.. in MailerLite database (checkbox “Store customers details”. If you don’t store customers details then each time you send an order to MailerLite it won’t contain any customer information, only the information about what products should be sent out will be present. If you check “Store customers details” checkbox then every time an order is sent to MailerLite it will be sent with customer info already attached to it so whenever you send an email campaign MailerLite will automatically know who has subscribed to it thus simplifying the process of sending out newsletters etc. Finally, you can choose how often should orders be sent to MailerLite (every X minutes. and how long should an order stay in MailerLite before being removed (how many days after purchase before removing. After this click “Save changes”.
    • Now go back to WHMCS main screen (click “back to home” on top right corner. Go to contacts-> contact center-> accounts-> mailing lists/lists/autoresponders/autoresponders (depending on your currently selected language. Click on the button “Create new mailing list” (which is located second from left bottom corner of your screen. Name your list something like “MailerLite Integration Demo” or “Test List” or anything else that describes its purpose for example use your company name for this list if you are testing integration with your company’s lists/accounts/mailing lists/accounts/etc.. Then go down to “Add members” section where you can add members to your list by entering their e-mail addresses separated by commas or semicpons (for example [email protected];[email protected] Save changes by clicking on “Save Changes” button on bottom right corner of your screen. You can repeat this step for all of your lists/accounts/mailing lists/accounts etc. in WHMCS until you have added all of clients who are interested in using MailerLite in their WHMCS environments or who are paying for your services via PayPal, 2CheckOut etc. account in MailerLite system in order to be able to send them messages when they sign up for your services in WHMCS panel.
    • When you are done adding members for all lists/accounts/mailing lists/accounts etc., go back to WHMCS main screen again (click “back to home” on top right corner. and go to contacts-> contact center-> accounts-> mailing lists/lists/autoresponders/autoresponders again (depending on your currently selected language. Click on the button “Send messages” which is located second from left bottom corner of your screen next to “Create new mailing list” button described above in step 6 above. You will see a form that looks something like this. http://prntscr.com/kweh55 . Fill out the form with the messages that you want to send to your customers once they have signed up via WHMCS panel for example something along the lines of “Hello Mr./Mrs./Miss XX! Welcome to XX Company! We hope we can provide you with excellent service! Our website is www.XXcompany.com and our phone number is +XXX XXX XXXX, please feel free to contact us via any channel! Thank you and best wishes! Your Friends at XX Company” and then click on “Send messages” button at bottom right corner of your screen. That’s it! Your messages will be sent out to all members of all lists/accounts/mailing lists/accounts etc. automatically once they sign up via WHMCS panel (the messages will be sent automatically every time somebody signs up for your services via WHMCS panel. If you want to send messages automatically without having them sign up via WHMCS panel then please use contact center module instead of mailing lists module described above and create a contact center with list called “MailerLite Integration Demo” or whatever else describes its purpose and add clients who should receive messages via contact center module but not via mailing lists module described above so that they get messages both ways depending on how they choose to get in touch with you! There is also another way to get messages from WHMCS to MailerLite databases without having them sign up via WHMCS panel which is explained in this article. http://www.whmcs.com/articles/2259-how-to-send-emails-to-customers-who-have-registered-using-whmcs#whmcs_emailmerge_for_whmcs_integration . In conclusion, if you want to use WHMCS/MailerLite integration make sure that your clients know about your emails otherwise they may get confused why they are receiving messages from two different places! In other words make sure that everybody knows about integration between WHMCS and MailerLite before going through all the steps described above!
