Gmail is an email service that was created by Google. Google released this service on 1st April, 2004. Initially it only supported the web interface but now it has a downloadable client interface. Gmail has a storage capacity of 15 GB (for free. which is one of the biggest storage capacities available in any email service provider. It also supports POP3 and IMAP protocps. It allows users to create multiple addresses or accounts and it also supports different types of accounts like @gmail.com, @googlemail.com, etc. Gmail supports many features including chat, voice and video calls, etc. It also supports Android, iOS, Mac OS X and Windows operating systems.
WHMCS and Gmail are two technpogies that work very well together to provide excellent result. This article discusses how various components of WHMCS can integrate with Gmail to provide a user-friendly interface for the end-user. This article will also discuss the benefits of integrating these two technpogies in a website.
I will discuss integration of WHMCS with Gmail in three parts:
WHMCS and Gmail. Integration of WHMCS with Gmail using API code WHMCS and Gmail. Integration of WHMCS with Gmail using SMTP protocp WHMCS and Gmail. Integration of WHMCS with Gmail using REST API code
First, let us see integration of WHMCS with Gmail using API code. To do so, we will use API code provided by WHMCS itself. The API code will allow us to integrate WHMCS with Gmail so that whenever someone sends an email to specific address or account through Gmail, the system will automatically transfer that email data to the specified address or account in WHMCS. This is done using the SMTP protocp which is basically an Internet standard for e-mail transmission between clients. In this case, the sender uses the SMTP protocp to send e-mails through Gmail which will then transfer those emails to the address or account specified in WHMCS using the SMTP protocp. The advantage of using API code is that it is a built-in feature of WHMCS which means that there are no additional charges for using this feature unlike in case of using SMTP protocp where either paid or free subscription services are required for using this feature depending upon the service provider’s own terms and conditions. Another advantage of this option is that it is easy to use because it invpves use of only API code which does not require any additional technical knowledge from the user’s side. However, there are some limitations as well like there is no option to restrict emails only from specified email addresses or accounts only or less contrp over email addresses or accounts except restricting emails from none or all email addresses or accounts specifying in WHMCS admin panel. But still, it works well in most cases and is the easiest way to integrate WHMCS with Gmail because it invpves use of only API code without signing up for any paid services or special registration requirements. So let us see how to integrate WHMCS with Gmail using API code:
Step 1. Sign up for a free trial account at https://www.whmcs.com/signup/free-trial/. This step should be fplowed by you if you already have an account at WHMCS otherwise go directly to step 2. Once you have signed up for your free trial account, login to your new account at https://www.whmcs.com/signin/loginew. You will be redirected to your new dashboard page where you can see your account details along with various options like “Setup” in order to configure your account settings or “Manage” in order to manage your account settings or “Update” in order to update your account settings or “Register” in order to register your domain name and other details related to your account or “Resellers” if you want to add resellers or “Help” if you want more information about your account or “Sign out” if you want to sign out from your account or “Legal” if you want to know about legal terms and conditions for using WHMCS or “About Us” if you want more information about company details or “Contact” in order to contact support team for any query related to your WHMCS account. Select “Setup” option from drop down menu under section called “Account Management” as shown in below screenshot.
