Webhooks By Connect is a new platform that has taken the usability of Slack to an entirely new level. It’s an application that enables you to create webhooks for different applications and services. There are three different types of integrations, which are all explained in the fplowing sub-sections.
Time Doctor is an online time tracking software that allows you to monitor your employees’ working hours. To make it easier for you, we’ve created this guide with instructions on how to integrate Time Doctor with Slack. Here are the steps:
Sign up for both Time Doctor and Slack. Go to the New Webhooks By Connect page on your Time Doctor dashboard. Use the “Select a Service” drop-down menu to choose Slack. Select the Slack channel you would like to send reports to. You can also choose to send reports directly to your email address. Click on “Create Hooks” to proceed. Add the request URL for Slack in the provided field. This is usually created with the fplowing template. https://hooks.slack.com/services/T3XXXXX/BXXXXXX/XXX Replace XXXX with your username on Slack. Replace BXXXXXX with the channel name where you want your report to be sent. Click on “Create Hooks” to finish integrating Slack with Time Doctor.
Integrating Webhooks By Connect into your Slack is fairly simple, but what about integrating it with other applications? The good news is that you can do exactly that by creating an integration with Time Doctor! First, let’s take a look at how you can set up an integration between Time Doctor and Slack. Once you have created the integration, you can use our Time Tracker bot to track time and send reports directly to your Slack channel! Here’s how:
Go to the New Webhooks By Connect page on your Time Doctor dashboard and select Slack as the service you want to integrate with. Enter the request URL and click on “Create Hooks”. This will create a new webhook for all of your team members. The next step is creating a new bot for your Slack channel. To do so, go to https://api.slack.com/bots and click on “Add Bot User”. Once you have created your bot, go to the “Bot Users” tab and click on the “Authorize” button next to your bot. The next step is adding a new slash command for your bot. Go to https://api.slack.com/web and click on “Add Configuration” and choose Slash Commands from the menu that appears below it. Add @time_doctor as the name of your command and copy-paste the code provided by Time Doctor into the box below it (you can find it under the “Send Reports Directly To Project Managers” section. Click on “Save Changes” to finish setting up your Slash Command. Go back to your Time Doctor dashboard and enter the user names of the people who will be using this bot in the Message Recipients field. You can add multiple users by separating them with a comma (example. [email protected],[email protected] Click on “Create Hooks” when you are done adding users to send reports directly to their Slack channels!
The biggest benefit of integrating Webhooks By Connect into your Slack is that you can now share notifications from any application or service you use with all of your team members without having to leave Slack! Instead of going through a bunch of tabs and windows, you can see everything in one place – in real time! Another great benefit of using this application is that you can create a webhook for almost anything – from games to productivity apps – and thus save a lot of time!
