Figure 1. Integration with MailChimp via API key
In this example above, you can see how an email integration works by going from the top of the image to the bottom. Let's say a user named "Sales" created a new opportunity called "ABC Company" in Wave. In the section labeled "Step Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Action Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step Step ", we can see that this user has clicked the button "Send Email" and entered the information for this email. The next step is where we see the API key coming into play. After submitting the API key and activating the API key integration, we will see a window pop up asking us if we want to set up API keys. We will click on yes and then we will enter API keys for both the API app and API caller. After entering API keys for both API app and API caller, we will see a message saying API keys successfully saved and activated! Now let's go back to the diagram above and we will see another section labeled "API App". This section is where we can setup what types of email we would like to send. This is where we can choose if we want to send emails to specific groups of people or if we want to send emails to everyone. Here is an example:

Salesforce knows who needs access based on what data you’ve selected. Because you’ve selected “Opportunity” as well as “Contact” you’ll be able to select either Contact or Opportunity in this list of fields that you’d like Salesforce to use when sending out your email. Select “Opportunity” from that dropdown menu; then, select your desired “Selection Type” (i.e., “Contains All”. This tells Salesforce which Salesforce objects you’d like it to search within when looking for contact information (in this case, Opportunities. Next, select “Search Criteria”; here, you can specify which fields you’d like Salesforce to search when finding contacts for this email (in this case, “Name”. Finally, select “Match Type”; this determines whether or not you want Salesforce to return results that match exactly what you typed in these two search fields (i.e., “Exact Match”), or whether you want it to return results that partially match what you typed in these search fields (i.e., “Partial Match”. Click “Close” when finished entering your values in these fields; then click on “Save Settings” at the bottom of this page when finished entering your values in these fields; then click on “Save Settings” at the bottom of this page .
