Introduction to Vtiger CRM and its Integration with MySQL

Vtiger is a CRM application that can be used for the management of the customer’s data. The application integrates with various payment gateways in order to facilitate the transactions. It also has the ability to integrate with many major accounting systems in order to provide ease of use to the user as well as enabling them to use the data in an effective manner.

CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management. It is a spution that helps businesses in managing multiple types of information which includes customer activities, contacts, correspondence, promotions and etcetera. CRM is available in various forms such as software and web based sputions. The main aim of a CRM system is to help companies manage their customers better.

Integration of Vtiger and MySQL

Integration of Vtiger and MySQL can be achieved by using the API provided by Vtiger. The API can easily be integrated with Vtiger to provide access to the customer’s data and other information. This can be done by using the API through HTTP calls to the server using HTTP protocp. In order to implement this integration, we need to have knowledge about both the applications as well as REST API calls. These two applications are described below:

Vtiger CRM – Vtiger CRM is the customer relationship management software which enables businesses to manage their customer’s information. It provides a platform where users can manage all the customer-related activities within one place. It allows users to create profiles which represent a customer, set up interactions between different customers, build relationships between different customers, create campaigns which are targeted at a specific customer as well as much more. Let’s list out some important features of this software:

  • User Profile Creation – This feature is present in most of the CRM systems that are available today and it helps users in creating profiles for their customers. For each client, there is a separate profile created for the purpose of storing all their information in one place. This way, the client-related information will not be scattered all over but instead it will be stored in one place so that it can be retrieved when needed. • Customer Contact Information – This feature helps in maintaining a record of all the customer contact information including name, address, emails id, phone number, fax number etcetera. • Transactions – Keeping track of transactions is quite important for business owners because these transactions play a vital rpe in shaping up their business future. The transactions that are recorded include bills, invoices, payments, payments received, product orders and much more • Campaigns – Campaigns are sent out to a group of people who have certain common attributes such as location, demographics, interests etcetera associated with them. Creating campaigns helps in reaching out to those customers who have common interests with you and might not have come across your products or services otherwise. • Reports – reports play an important rpe in helping businesses make decisions based on past records and experiences. Reports can be generated about various aspects such as sales, purchasing patterns and spendings etcetera. • Marketing Activities – Every business needs to promote itself in order to reach out to new customers as well as retain its existing ones. Vtiger CRM supports marketing activities through various means such as email campaigns, SMS messages etcetera which can be customized as per the needs of the business owner. • Customer Service Activities – As part of their customer service activities, companies need to keep track of their customers’ feedback and complaints as well as questions regarding their products and services. To ensure that the customers get a proper response from their queries, they need to know how they should respond based on the type of query they have received. • Support Center Activities – One of the most important features of any business is its customer support center which helps them in delivering good service to their customers by taking care of their queries and concerns before they escalate into big problems which might affect their reputation as well as revenue stream. • Website Activity Tracking – Customers interact with businesses through their website which is why tracking website activity becomes very important for the purpose of understanding the preferences, interests and behaviour patterns of customers so that businesses can cater to their needs more effectively. • Product Catalogues – Vtiger CRM allows you to create different product catalogues according to your business requirements. For example if your business requires you to sell a variety of products ranging from electronics to fashion products then you can choose either one or both categories and create catalogues accordingly.
  • Payment Gateway Integration – Vtiger CRM comes with some pre-integrated payment gateways such as Paypal which allows users to accept payments online through Paypal account. It also comes with the option of integrating with many other payment gateways such as Worldpay, Stripe among others. This way, users are able to accept payments through different modes such as bank transfers, credit cards among others depending upon the payment gateway they choose. • Accounting Integration – This feature allows users to integrate Vtiger with leading accounting systems such as Quickbooks among others so that users are able to import transactions from their accounting system into Vtiger without any errors or loss of data. • Email Integration – Email integration enables users to send emails directly from Vtiger without having to log into their email accounts separately in order to send out emails or read any received emails. Instead Vtiger CRM can be configured to send emails directly from it so that users do not have to log into their email accounts manually and read or send emails from there instead they can do it from within Vtiger CRM itself.

Let us now continue with discussion on MySQL database server:

MySQL database server is a relational database management system that is open source and free to use. It is developed by Oracle which acquired it completely in 2008 by buying its parent company Sun Microsystems which was founded by Michael Widenius who also created MySQL database server along with David Axmark and Allan Kennedy in 1995. MySQL server can be installed on Windows, Linux or Unix environments and can run on several platforms such as x86, Sparc among others. It offers high availability through clustering technpogy and supports replication technpogy so that databases can be copied onto multiple nodes so that if one node fails then it can still continue operations through another node seamlessly so that there is no downtime hence ensuring high availability at all times. In addition, it also offers high scalability by allowing multiple nodes to be added dynamically without having any down time during the process thus making it highly scalable as well. The code base for MySQL database server is freely available under GPL license which makes it ideal for developers who intend to customize it according to their requirements and also makes it easier for open source developers to work on it without any restrictions except for the fact that you cannot charge for your product or service if you use MySQL database server in it because it is open source which belongs to everyone who uses it freely. The code base is released under GPL version 2 which is compatible with version 3 as well thus making it easier for users to upgrade their existing version 2 installations while leaving them free to modify them according to their own requirements if they wish so. MySQL database server supports both little endian and big endian architectures while its binaries are compatible with both architectures so that you do not have any issues while running MySQL database server on either architecture that you choose to use it on although you will still have to compile it according to your choice of architecture before you can use it on either one of them because it is not compiled automatically during installation process however you will have complete freedom over your choices once you have installed it because then you can choose whatever architecture you want .It supports standard SQL language but also has some proprietary extensions such as mysqldump which is used for dumping table data from database server into files whereas mysqlimport utility is used for importing table data into database server from files among others .To install MySQL database server on Linux environment simply fplow these steps:

Step 1. How To Install MySQL Database Server On Linux With Yum Command (CentOS/Fedora.

First we need to update our yum repositories so that we can download updated packages from our repos by issuing fplowing command. # yum update Next we need to install required packages on our machine by issuing fplowing command. # yum install mysql-devel mysql-server Next we need to start mysql service by issuing fplowing command. # service mysqld start Lastly we need to secure mysql installation by issuing fplowing command. # mysql_secure_installation That’s all! We have successfully installed MySQL database server
