  • Vimeo is an online video sharing website. It was founded by Zach Klein and Jake Lodwick in September 2004. The site allows users to upload, share and view videos. In June 2006, Vimeo began offering its service for free. In December 2006, it announced that it would be hosting videos on behalf of the North American branch of the BBC. In February 2007, Vimeo received an additional $3 million from Sequoia Capital, which had been one of its original investors.

Users can also find new friends by searching other members’ blogs. As of May 2009, Tookan had more than 11 million members. In June 2006, Tookan had more than 3 million members. Tookan is the largest of the Japanese SNSs, with a market share of 47% as of August 2006.

Best Buy launched the “Blue Shirt Nation” campaign in February 2010, with the goal of having employees lead social media conversations about the company’s products and services online. The campaign was successful in generating positive word-of-mouth about Best Buy products among customers who are already familiar with the brand. Posting on consumers’ Facebook walls that they are shopping at Best Buy has helped Best Buy build loyalty among its customers who don’t have an existing relationship with the store.
