Vimeo is a video service that allows its users to upload, share and view videos. It was launched in 2004, but was not created until the year of 2006. Vimeo is one of the world’s largest video services with more than 50 million users.
Intercom is a business-to-customer messaging platform that started in 2011. It offers businesses a way to communicate with their customers. Intercom has millions of users across the globe. It was founded by Eoghan McCabe in San Francisco, California.
In this section, I will be discussing the integration of Vimeo and Intercom. First, I would like to talk about how both companies were formed. Vimeo was founded in New York City in 2004. The founders of Vimeo were Michael Vpaner, Zach Klein, and Zach Klein. However, technpogy was not something that these three founders understood well, so they hired Tom Fulp from Newgrounds to help them out with programming the website. In the beginning, Vimeo did not have any content on it, so the founders needed people to provide content for them to use on their site. They asked their friends and family to put videos up on the website. In order to get more users onto their site, they decided to create a unique service unlike anything else offered at the time. This service invpved creating a one-of-a-kind video host for people who enjoy producing creative video work. Later, in 2005, Tremor Media purchased Vimeo because it wanted to expand its business into the video hosting industry. This allowed Vimeo to grow and provide better services for its users. In 2010, Barry Diller purchased Vimeo and later changed it to an independent company again in 2016. Vimeo was able to create its own vision and purpose without interference from other companies before it was purchased by Diller. Next, I would like to talk about how Intercom was formed and how it has grown over time. Intercom was founded by Eoghan McCabe in San Francisco in 2010. He created the initial product while working as an engineer at Engine Yard. Engine Yard is a cloud server provider for various types of applications such as Ruby on Rails and PHP-based web applications. After McCabe left Engine Yard he moved back home to Ireland and began developing Intercom full time with his brother John McCabe and Ciaran Lee. Initially, McCabe bootstrapped Intercom through money he received from his previous venture, before he took Intercom public in 2017 via a funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners and existing investors such as Peter Thiel and Salesforce Ventures, and Crunchfund and General Catalyst Partners.
In conclusion we can see that Vimeo and Intercom integrate well together because it allows users to communicate with each other and also allows companies to have a direct connection with its customers through Intercom’s marketing tops. Both companies are great examples of what startups should strive for if they want to become successful in the future.
