These properties were merged into Verizon Media Group under Tim Armstrong in May 2017 fplowing closing the acquisition in June 2017. Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3. is an online storage web service offered by Amazon Web Services. It is designed to make web-scale computing easier for developers. Amazon S3 provides a simple web services interface that can be used to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. The service is designed to deliver 99.999999999% durability and stores data across multiple facilities with data replication within each facility and between facilities so that data is not lost if there is a failure in one location.
Amazon S3 uses a variety of mechanisms for data replication including server-side (client-side written erased), client-side (at-rest. encryption, server-side encryption (server-side cloud contrpler. and multi-object replication (MOX. where object replicas are stored across several facilities making it possible to access data in locations close to the user (e.g., Europe or Asia. while keeping the data in two or three facilities within the same region (usually US East. for performance purposes without compromising data integrity or security.
