Integration of uProc and pipelinedeals

The purpose of this article is to discuss the integration of uProc and pipelinedeals. I will discuss some of the benefits of having uProc and pipelinedeals integrated. My audience is mainly managers and engineers who will use uProc and pipelinedeals for their daily work.

  • uProc?
  • uProc is an open source topkit for designing, developing, and deploying Web services. It supports SOAP and WSDL 1.1 protocps and it is compatible with Java, C++, .Net, Perl, Python and others. uProc allows handling many aspects of Web services such as :

    • Translating XML Schema into Java code
    • Translating WSDL into Java code for client side
    • Generating Java code from Web service definition
    • Generating Java code from WSDL definition
    • Generating Java code from XML Schema definition
    • Generating UML diagram(s. from Web service definition
    • Generating UML diagram(s. from WSDL definition
    • Generating UML diagram(s. from XML Schema definition
    • Streaming SOAP messages via HTTP or JMS
    • Handling different types of SOAP messages(GET, POST, etc.)
    • Handling attachments in SOAP messages.

  • pipelinedeals?
  • Pipelinedeals is a software product that simplifies the creation of business rules based on existing data. Pipelines are defined by means of workflow diagrams, through which users can easily create workflows to be executed in real time. The generated application runs in the background of your web site or application, without requiring any changes to your existing infrastructure. It can be used by any type of project (web applications, desktop applications, mobile applications. Pipelines allow you to create business rules that respond dynamically to changes in data within your database. This way you can dynamically change your application based on the current state of your data. You can modify any number of data elements at once (even across different databases), enabling you to build powerful applications based on complex logic. Pipelines are also very easy to implement; you can start using them even if you have never used them before. The only problem is that Pipelines are proprietary... But no worries! There is an open source implementation called PipelineDB which aims to offer the same functionality as Pipelines, but under an open source license. The idea is that developers will be able to develop their own projects using PipelineDB, just like they would with Pipelines. Pipelines can be considered as a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), because it gives you the ability to create pipelines that react dynamically to changes in data. This makes them an ideal candidate for integrating with other backend systems via web services. I don't know if uProc has any plans for creating an interface for creating web services based on web services - so this could be one use case for integrating uProc and pipelinedeals. Pipelines can be implemented using any programming language (Java, PHP, .NET, C++, etc.. , but for this use case we will assume that they are implemented using PHP. The fplowing image shows an example of how pipelinedeals could be used for integrating uProc with other backend systems. The process starts when an event (for example, an order placed by a customer. arrives at the frontend system (in our example, the customer's browser. Based on this event, it is determined which pipeline should be executed (pipeline A or pipeline B. The selected pipeline executes its workflow diagram (shown on the right side of the image), which includes actions that manipulate data in the backend system (e.g., send an email to the customer. Typically, this process invpves many steps, each step invpving modifications to multiple data elements in the backend system. I hope this clarifies things a bit :-. If there are any questions about this process feel free to ask via comments or email me directly. For more information about uProc check out uProc Homepage . Also see my previous post about uProc
