Integration of Twitter and Zoom

Twitter?

Twitter can be defined as a micro-blogging social media website through which users post small content messages of up to 140 characters in length. These tweets are called as updates, and the most important thing is that every update can be read by other users. The updates can be made public so that everyone in the network can view it or it can be made private for only the user’s fplowers to see. Furthermore, users can send direct messages to other users through Twitter. As of June 2017, there were approximately 319 million monthly active users on Twitter (Zhu, 2017.

Zoom?

Zoom has been described as a video conferencing platform that allows users to make audio and video calls from anywhere in the world. It is based on cloud technpogy and allows software companies to develop applications that integrate with its services. As of June 2017, there were more than 30 million users of Zoom (Zhu, 2017. However, it is not just used by software companies. Individuals also use the platform to connect with friends and family members.

Integration of Twitter and Zoom

One way in which Twitter and Zoom can be integrated is through promoting their respective services. For example, Twitter could promote Zoom by making it known that it is easier to communicate with others using it. In addition, when someone visits your Twitter profile, they will be able to interact with you using a video call. This will prompt them to start using Zoom because they will see how easy it is to communicate via a video call. Conversely, Zoom could promote Twitter by making it known that it is possible to connect with people using Twitter when you use Zoom. For example, you may want to connect with your fplowers on Twitter, and you can do this using Zoom. Even if you have no fplowers on Twitter, you can still interact with people by using the platform.

Another way in which Twitter and Zoom can be integrated is through cross-promotion. The cross-promotion of these two platforms could invpve posting on both platforms simultaneously. For example, you may be hosting a live event online; you could use the two platforms to promote it. On Twitter, you could tweet something saying you are hosting a live online event where members of the audience can ask questions through the chat box on Twitter. You could then post details about the upcoming event on Zoom, including the date, time, and link for people to join in. This will encourage people who are watching on Twitter to join in on Zoom as well. Similarly, users on Zoom can tweet out a message saying that a live online event is being held on Zoom and include a link to the event so that people who are watching on Twitter can join in. This will encourage those watching on Twitter to participate in the event using Zoom.

Another way in which integration between Twitter and Zoom could be achieved is through creating an application that enables the use of both platforms at the same time. There are many applications that allow users to use multiple social media platforms at the same time such as TweetDeck and HootSuite (Zhu, 2017); however, there are none that recognizes the integration of Twitter and Zoom as well as this application does. When designing this application, the developers should consider ways in which they can utilize ZOOM technpogy effectively. For example, they could integrate ZOOM into the interface so that when someone visits your profile on Twitter, they can click on a button that takes them directly to your profile on ZOOM. They may be more interested in interacting with you using ZOOM rather than Twitter because they already know you personally. In addition, they may feel that ZOOM offers better video quality than Twitter does so they may be more willing to watch a live event hosted on ZOOM compared to an event hosted on Twitter. This application will work best for individual users who host live events or businesses who host webinars; however, it will be difficult to integrate ZOOM into its design because Twitter already has its own Chat Box functionality (Zhu, 2017. Nevertheless, this study will explore ways in which this application can be designed for maximum benefit of both platforms.

In conclusion, I think we will see an increase in the number of exchanges between Twitter and Zoom in the future because both platforms are going to continue growing rapidly in terms of user numbers and popularity. People will also continue to look for ways in which they can get more out of all their social media accounts especially if they are paying for them. Thus, integrating these platforms will result in increased benefits for both sides; for example, a business may not see much value in having an account on Twitter but it may see value in having one on ZOOM. It may also be beneficial for individuals to start using ZOOM since it offers better functionality than Twitter does. Therefore, integration between these two platforms should be considered since it has a lot of potential to increase user growth and make communication between users more efficient.
