Microsoft Teams is a cross-platform Microsoft communication and cplaboration top that combines chat, video calling, voice calling, and sharing in a single application. Teams is part of Office 365 Enterprise E5 and Office 365 Education A5 and above plans. It features persistent chat, a sidebar for file sharing, group audio and video calling, along with integration with Microsoft's Office Suite. Microsoft Teams is designed to be a direct competitor to services like Slack.
Microsoft Teams launched on June 6th of 2017 with the purpose of allowing users to access ongoing conversations across multiple services (including Skype for Business. Users are able to access the conversations through the Microsoft Team's channel. The service also includes a tab for Twitter direct messages which allows users to receive direct messages sent from Twitter users directly inside of the Teams application.
