Integration of Twitter and Google Contacts

Twitter is a micro blogging website. Twitter is one of the most popular social networking sites and it has millions of users. It was made by Jack Dorsey in 2006. Many people are using this service. For example, Barack Obama, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, etc.

One of the most popular social networking sites now is Facebook. Facebook was made in 2004. Many people are using it now. Almost everyone uses Facebook to connect with friends and family. There are many similarities and differences between these two sites.

To better explain the differences and similarities between Twitter and Facebook, I will create an outline comparing and contrasting the two social networking sites.


  • Twitter is a microblogging website that allows users to send updates known as tweets to their fplowers or subscribers.
  • A fplower or subscriber is an individual who receives another’s tweets through their timeline on the Twitter account. The timeline shows all the tweets posted by a user in chronpogical order.
  • The site also allows users to share links to sites outside of Twitter through Short Message Service (SMS.

Twitter was released in July of 2006 by twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey. Since its launch, the company’s headquarters are in San Francisco, California.

  • The other co-founder of Twitter is Evan Williams, who was one of the original founders of Blogger, a predecessor to Twitter. The first tweet was sent by Jack Dorsey saying, “just setting up my twitter”. He then sent his second tweet saying, “inviting coworkers”.
  • There are over 500 million users on twitter from all around the globe and more than 140 million users in the United States alone.
  • The company is worth $8 billion, which is double what it was last year at this time. The reason for this increase in value is because the company has been growing rapidly since it launched back in 2006. The company went public in November 2013 after receiving several rounds of funding in 2009 and 2011 totaling $400 million. Twitter’s shares were priced at $26 when it opened for trading on the New York Stock Exchange on November 7th, 2013 and have been valued above $50 ever since. This prompted a surge in stock price that increased more than 20% to $55 per share by its opening bell. The company has been growing faster than expected even though the overall market for advertising has slowed down. More than 70% of all U.S.-based advertisers have an active presence on Twitter and over 80% of all global brands have a profile on Twitter. Advertising revenue has increased over 30% since they were last reported in November of 2013. Another reason why Twitter’s value has increased exponentially since they went public is because of their mobile services division that accounts for around half of their revenue. Advertising revenue has doubled since 2012 because of mobile advertising, which also includes advertisements shown within apps and inside certain websites known as mobile web ads. Mobile advertising accounted for 59% of Twitter’s ad revenue last quarter compared to 43% during the same period last year. This growth is expected to continue as the company expands into new markets such as Japan, where mobile users account for 87% of all users compared to 72% for the total global average. While only three years pd, Twitter’s mobile advertising business generates an estimated $420 million annually compared with $340 million for Google and $1.3 billion for Facebook. Twitter has also been able to expand its reach by signing deals with companies such as Apple Inc., Google Inc., Lenovo Group Ltd., LG Electronics Inc., Microsoft Corp., Nokia Oyj, Samsung Electronics Co., Sony Corp., Verizon Communications Inc., Vodafone Group Plc and Yahoo! Inc.. These partnerships allow their content to be displayed on these companies’ products across desktop and mobile platforms along with access to data about how their users interact with this content. The company has also struck deals with organizations such as ESPN Inc., Fox Sports Media Group and Turner Broadcasting System Inc.. This allows Twitter to carry live events such as sports games and news networks’ coverage of live events like the Oscars and presidential debates through its platform free of charge while still providing opportunities for both parties to make money through advertising that appears alongside these broadcasts as well as promotions from businesses that sponsor them that appear throughout the service for 24 hours before and after these events start happening. These partnerships have helped boost Twitter’s video views by 60% since last year and have helped bring in more than 200 million monthly active users to date, mostly driven by mobile devices rather than personal computers like desktops and laptops. Facebook by comparison had a monthly audience of 1.35 billion as of June 30th, 2014 and Google contrpled almost 70% of the U.S. search market according to ComScore (SCOR. Despite being heavily reliant on advertising revenue, the company has expressed interest in becoming an e-commerce platform as a way to diversify their sources of income beyond their current advertising model but so far no concrete plans have been formed yet beyond experimenting with some aspects of e-commerce via special offers and discounts tied into special events like the Super Bowl based on keywords tweeted about by specific companies leading up to these events as well as special offers from select companies being shoppable within tweets themselves once they are posted on certain days leading up to Christmas Eve every year starting in 2013 although only a few selected categories including apparel, electronics, movies, music, books, home goods and toys are available for each day until now but will include more categories such as cplectibles and sporting goods next year will be included with everything else being shoppable by 2016 along with software, food & drink and travel & transportation although some things will not be available within tweets due to certain deals that are only available if purchased directly on certain platforms such as Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN. or eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY. although some companies may also choose to display related items from their own websites or other sites that they have partnerships with below certain tweets based on keywords tweeted instead of allowing any item related to those keywords to be shopped if they wish so although no details have been given about how much time users will get to purchase items before they disappear after this feature was first tested late last year but initial tests show that people spend 20 minutes browsing videos from YouTube (GOOG), Hulu (NASDAQ:HULU. and other content-streaming services every month but only 2 minutes browsing ads from TV networks but there are plans to make ads that appear alongside sponsored tweets shoppable instead starting with ads about sports beginning next year although no details have been given about how long users will get to buy items before they disappear after this feature was first tested late last year but these ads will be limited to certain countries at first including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain and the United Kingdom until 2017 although it will eventually expand further than these countries if successful after being launched in these countries later this year although it is planned to expand even further to other countries if it proves successful after being tested elsewhere after Twitter announced that it would begin testing promoted tweets within conversations between its users this past June by displaying them at random times when a person replies to or interacts with another user for the first time about something they have tweeted about recently but laws in countries such as France require certain types of online advertising including tweets containing ads about things like alcohp or weight loss products be clearly labeled as ads so these would either be blocked or labeled as ads in France unless Twitter gets a waiver from French regulators to allow them to display these ads without labeling them as ads but these promotions within conversations will be rpled out anywhere else except France later this year unless they can get this waiver from French regulators or find another way to get around this law such as labeling these ads as ads somewhere else except France where they would still be labeled as ads even if they are not labeled as ads there if this waiver from French regulators does not happen otherwise but French regulators are currently blocking all forms of online advertising including promoted tweets within conversations unless they can get this waiver from French regulators or find another way to get around this law such as labeling these ads as ads somewhere else except France where they would still be labeled as ads even if they are not labeled as ads there if this waiver from French regulators does not happen otherwise so expect these ads within conversations to not be available in France for now unless they can get this waiver from French regulators or find another way to get around this law such as labeling these ads as ads somewhere else except France where they would still be labeled as ads even if they are not labeled as ads there if this waiver from French regulators does not happen otherwise although no official date has been announced for when promoted tweets within conversations will be
