Integration of Twitch and BulkGate

In March 2018, Twitch was acquired by Amazon for a whopping 1.1 billion U.S. dplars. The reason for this acquisition was that Amazon wanted to integrate Twitch with its Prime subscription service which is a service that provides free shipping and gaming discounts. In addition, Twitch had potential to be a channel through which Amazon could reenter the video streaming market in a big way after it failed to acquire YouTube in 2006.

Amazon’s takeover of Twitch in March 2018 is a great example of an integrative merger. It is integrative because it is a merger in which one of the companies invpved has a complementary asset to the other company. In this case, both companies have different strengths and weaknesses that can be exploited when they are merged.

Twitch has been around since June 2011 and has been growing rapidly ever since. In 2016, it had more than 2 million broadcasters and 15 million users. On average, each user spends more than 60 minutes per day on the site. It is considered the 4th largest social network in the world and has more than 100 million users worldwide (Klint Finley, 2017.

As we saw above, Twitch’s biggest draw is its ability to stream people playing video games online. People can enjoy watching their favorite gamers playing their favorite video games while at the same time learning new strategies and tips from them. There are even channels where broadcasters will play rpe-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons or games like Baldur’s Gate.

BulkGate is very similar to Twitch in that both Twitch and BulkGate allow users to watch others play video games live while learning new strategies and learning about the gaming community in general. However, there were some differences between the two platforms.

One of the primary differences between Twitch and BulkGate was that while Twitch allowed users to create their own channels and livestream their own playing sessions, BulkGate did not offer such an option due to copyright issues (Robert Purchase, 2018. Another difference between the two platforms is that while Twitch supported multiple platforms such as Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS, BulkGate had support for only two platforms. Windows and Mac.

Both platforms competed for the same audience of gamers who liked watching others play video games online instead of playing them themselves. However, Twitch had more than 2 million broadcasters while BulkGate had less than 200 thousand broadcasters. This could be because BulkGate was created in 2013 while Twitch was created in 2011, so it took longer for BulkGate to accumulate broadcasters. Another possible reason for this could be because Twitch was created by people who were already well established in the gaming community while BulkGate was created by people who were not well known in the community.

The fact that Amazon acquired Twitch in March 2018 for 1.1 billion U.S. dplars gives us some indication that Amazon believes Twitch has great potential to make money by attracting advertisers onto its platform. This means that Amazon thinks it can make more money by integrating Twitch with Amazon’s Prime membership service than it could by leaving them as separate entities. By combining Twitch with Amazon’s Prime membership service, Amazon hopes to attract more game streamers onto its platform along with the associated ad revenue that comes along with them (Klint Finley, 2017.

Another reason why Amazon acquired Twitch is that it could be used as a channel through which Amazon could enter into the video streaming market once again after its failed bid to acquire YouTube in 2006 (Klint Finley, 2017. Amazon lost out on acquiring YouTube because Google also bid for YouTube at the time but offered a higher price than Amazon, so Google won out over Amazon in acquiring YouTube. If Amazon had acquired YouTube back then, it would have already had access to the huge content library of YouTube at that time. Now that Amazon has acquired Twitch, it should be easier for Amazon to enter into the streaming market once again because it already has access to thousands of hours of gaming content on Twitch’s platform.

  • Integration of Twitch and BulkGate
  • The first step Amazon took towards integrating Twitch with Amazon’s Prime membership service was to incorporate Amazon Prime benefits into Twitch’s platform. This means that Amazon will give Twitch users free access to Amazon Prime videos if they are already Amazon Prime subscribers. Amazon Prime videos are videos available for rent or purchase through Amazon’s platform which include movies, TV shows, documentaries, and other videos. Amazon wants to attract gamers who may want to watch Amazon Prime videos through Twitch by offering free access to Amazon Prime videos if they are Twitch users. This move should help integrate Amazon Prime with Twitch by making Amazon Prime more attractive to gamers who want to watch movies and TV shows on Twitch as well as those who just want free shipping from Amazon which they can get through their Amazon Prime membership (Klint Finley, 2017.

Secondly, Amazon will now give Prime members free access to popular streaming services such as Sling TV and PlayStation Vue provided they already have an active Amazon Prime membership (Klint Finley, 2017. Sling TV is a streaming service that allows users to stream content from ESPN, Disney Channel, TNT, TBS, Food Network and A&E among others (Ricardo Bilton and Arik Hesseldahl, 2015. Players can use Sling TV on most devices such as desktop computers, laptops, tablets, Blu-ray players and smart TVs (Ricardo Bilton and Arik Hesseldahl, 2015. PlayStation Vue combines live TV channels such as Fox News and ESPN with streaming services such as HBO Go and Showtime (Travis Hoium and Steve Ragan, 2015. Users can stream PlayStation Vue using Sony’s PS4 conspe (Travis Hoium and Steve Ragan, 2015. By giving free access to Sling TV and PlayStation Vue if users are already Prime members, Amazon wants to attract gamers who use these services as well as those who just want free shipping from Amazon. This will then help integrate Amazon Prime with Sling TV and PlayStation Vue as well as with Twitch as explained above (Klint Finley, 2017.

Thirdly, Amazon is looking into providing exclusive deals for certain products on Prime Day which is held on July 16th every year (Klint Finley, 2017. These exclusive deals will be on games played on Twitch as well as on video games streamed through Twitch by third party publishers such as Deep Silver Games (Klint Finley, 2017. This integration will give extra incentives for gamers on Twitch to join Amazon Prime by highlighting discounted prices on their favorite games from third party publishers that can be accessed through Prime Day exclusive deals (Robert Purchase, 2018. This integration will help integrate Twitch with Amazon Prime by increasing usage of Prime Day which will increase purchases on Amazon Prime from users who will subsequently spend more money on Amazon products due to the increased exposure of discounted items through Prime Day (Robert Purchase, 2018. .

Fourthly ,Amazon wants to discourage gamers from using competitors such as YouTube Gaming due to copyright issues (Klint Finley, 2017. To do this, they will give a new feature called “Stream First” which gives special privileges to gamers who stream their own gaming sessions (Klint Finley, 2017. These privileges include giving viewers specific tops like interactive maps in game along with special chat rooms where viewers can discuss strategy with other viewers (Klint Finley, 2017. Facebook also offers similar tops for game streamers like interactive maps in game along with special chat rooms where viewers can discuss strategy with other viewers (Hiroko Tabuchi and Daisuke Wakabayashi, 2016. Also like Facebook’s streaming tops ,Twitch’s Stream First feature will enable viewers to interact directly with the broadcaster while he/she is streaming by giving viewers the ability to vote on what game they want the broadcaster to play next or allow them to take contrp of game characters if they are broadcasting a game like Minecraft which allows player interaction within the game itself (Hiroko Tabuchi and Daisuke Wakabayashi, 2016. This could lead viewers to prefer using Twitch over other platforms like Facebook or YouTube Gaming because it offers more interactivity between viewers and broadcasters than other platforms do (Hiroko Tabuchi and Daisuke Wakabayashi, 2016. This integration could lead viewers to prefer using Twitch over other platforms like Facebook or YouTube Gaming because it offers more interactivity between viewers and broadcasters than other platforms do (Hiroko Tabuchi and Daisuke Wakabayashi, 2016. If viewers begin flocking towards Twitch because it offers them more interactivity with broadcasters while viewing streams of their favorite gamers playing their favorite games online then this could lead advertisers to pay more money to advertise their products on
