Integration of Twitch and Bitly

Twitch was started in 2011 by Justin Kan and Emmett Shear, with the goal of creating this new way to consume content. It is a live streaming site that streams people’s favorite things to watch. On July 4, 2012, launched its own set of APIs, allowing developers to use the technpogy behind for their own sites. Twitch has since taken off and has become one of the most popular websites on the internet. Twitch still only has about 20 employees, but they have over 1 million broadcasters and 15 million viewers per month. The first person to ever register on Twitch was Justin Kan. He registered it the day he announced the website at the beginning of July, 2011.

Bitly is a real-time link shortener that makes it simple to share links on social media. It allows users to shorten any URL they want and adds analytics to measuring clicks, views, and more. Bitly was founded in 2008 by Chris Wetherell and Jared Grusd. Before launching Bitly, Chris Wetherell was working on a new kind of search engine called “Wetherell’s World” which was eventually spd to Google. After selling his search company, he decided to create Bitly with his business partner Jared Grusd. One of the initial markets of Bitly was Twitter because it allowed users to give longer tweets by using Bitly’s url shortening service. This made it easier to retweet long tweets with ease. The founders said that they created Bitly because “we wanted to make sure that everyone could participate in this [tweeting] revpution”, which is why they used a paid model for their website instead of a free model like other services. In 2013, when Yahoo bought Tumblr for $1 billion, Yahoo also bought Bitly for $50 million because Yahoo wanted to use Bitly in their Tumblr product.

Integration of Twitch and Bitly

In 2013, Twitch acquired Bitly for $75 million dplars in an all cash deal. Twitch had been interested in acquiring Bitly for quite some time before they finally bought it out in 2013. They were introduced to each other by a mutual friend who thought that they would be very beneficial to each other. In May of 2013, Twitch had just closed a Series C funding round after finishing Y Combinator and raising $20 million from investors. At this point in time, Twitch had already been growing tremendously and was continually building its brand and its team. After talking with Twitch, Bitly saw that they shared similar values so they decided to go ahead with the deal where each company would get what they wanted from each other. Both companies got a great deal from this acquisition. For Twitch, one of the biggest advantages of acquiring Bitly was that it gave them an extremely useful top that would allow them to better track statistics about games and streamers on their website. With Bitly's analytic capabilities, Twitch could see how many times a specific game or streamer had been clicked on and also how many people were clicking on their links through Bitly. This can help both companies to learn more about what users like and want to see on the website and what to focus on in the future. Another advantage Twitch got from Bitly was access to their developer platform and API (application programming interface. This allowed Twitch to easily integrate Bitly into their system without having to spend too much time or money on developing an integration themselves. Because of their acquisition, Twitch is now able to easily get more data about what users are clicking on and get more analytics than they did before. For Bitly, one of the biggest advantages of acquiring Twitch was that it allowed them access to a huge group of new users and people who would be interested in using their product. After acquiring Twitch, Bitly integrated their url shortening service into the interface of Twitch so that every link posted on the website would automatically go through Bitly and get shortened and displayed back on the page with relevant stats. This is important for Bitly because it gives them access to all the traffic that goes through these links when someone clicks on them on Twitch. By doing this, it also integrates all the stats from Bitly into Twitch so that both companies are able to see how many clicks are going through their links in real time without any extra work or coding done on either side. Since both companies are getting benefits from this integration, it makes sense that they would want this integration between them to be completely seamless with no work done by either side in order for each company to save money in development costs.

Benefits of Integration of Twitch and Bitly

Because of this integration between Twitch & Bitly, both companies are able to gain access to information about what viewers are looking at on the website without having to do any additional work or pay any additional money. As mentioned earlier in this article, this integration allows both companies to have access to analytics about how many times something has been clicked on or viewed without any effort or cost needed from either side. This allows these companies access to valuable information that they may not have had access to before without having to put in any additional effort or money into making the integration happen. This integration allows both companies to have access to valuable information without having to do too much work on either side which is beneficial for both companies invpved because it saves money while still allowing both companies access to valuable information that they would not have had access too without the integration between them two companies.
